I suppose I'm in the minority here, but I think this is a good move and probably the best choice they could have made after Ben Johnson pulled out.

It all comes down to the QB of course. Gotta bring the right guy in and hope that the combination of Reich's experience, having a good o-line, and finally having continuity on the offensive side of the ball is the winning formula.

I liked what he was able to do in Philly leading them to SB52. However, I'm not sure how much that was Doug P, given he was calling plays at the time. On the other hand, the Eagles offense went into the shitter right after Reich was hired away.

I hope it works out because he's well liked around the league and I think a lot of people would enjoy watching him hoist the Lombardi as a head coach.

I’ve got nothing but good things to say about Reich. He’s an actual non-problematic qualified NFL head coach. Give him a good roster and you’ll have a good team.
The good roster part you can say about a lot of coaches. Fitterer ain't exactly providing good rosters. And Reich is pretty old. Maybe he's a great coach, but will Tepper and Fitterer give him a good roster when they never have? Doubtful.

That’s exactly the thing, roster quality is going to decide how far you go and coaches are only moving that needle just a little bit. The Panthers don’t need some genius coach, they need better players and a coach who doesn’t get in his own way.

The Panthers need a franchise quarterback. One draft can change the trajectory of a franchise overnight. It doesn’t matter who the head coach is until that happens. The success of a head coach is directly tied to who the quarterback is. Once you have a franchise QB, coaching becomes a factor.

This hire was remarkably underwhelming, imo.

One other plus for Reich: a former 100+ game quarterback, who mentored Kerry Collins as a player and Andrew Luck as a coach, in position to mentor the new franchise quarterback.

I actually think he did pretty well in his early Colts tenure given the circumstances. They made some poor decisions as time went on in Indy. At least he's used to a less than ideal owner.

There’s only a handful of franchise QBs in the nfl. Probably around 1/4 teams have one. By that I mean those teams don’t need to take calls on their QB. Mahomes, Burrow, Allen, Herbert, Lawrence, and maybe 1 or 2 others.

Likelihood of getting one in this draft at 9? Unlikely.

The division sucks but the Panthers aren't really any better than the Bucs, Saints, and Falcons, are they?

That said Zach Wilson come on down!

As a secondary Panthers fan, I'm excited. Hefty price, but at least they are shooting their shot to really get a franchise QB.
