Post-Series Talk: Carolina Hurricanes defeat New Jersey Devils 4-1

Erik Haula having a big hate boner for the Canes and also losing to them nearly every year since is kinda hilarious, well except that one part where he was with the Bruins.
losing a child and being scratched at the same time hurt him. Emotions are difficult, while it might not be "logical" for him to hate the Canes organization but that's what happened.

they were missing more than jack, that has to be the most injured blue line in the playoffs in a decade

This series reminded me of the 2014-15 Pens. The Pens - without Kris Letang, Olli Maatta, and Christian Ehrhoff - were left with Ben Lovejoy and Ian Cole playing top minutes against the Rangers.

What sucks is Jacks injury is going to take him right up to training camp or the start of the season meaning once again he’ll have no time for strength and conditioning training. He needs an offseason to bulk up a little. Maybe he’ll stop getting hurt so often.

That's just not true.

After the miscarriage, he asked for a leave from the team and was granted it. The organization, players, and fans were very supportive of him and his wife during this time. The falling out came a while later when he was frustrated with his playing time and got in Brind'Amour's face about it giving him an ultimatum to play more minutes, and from everything I've heard, specifically threw other players under the bus in front of the whole team while ranting about it.

He was traded as soon as they could find a taker after this happened.

It's hard to lose your #1C and still win in the playoffs. Canes won this one, but it doesn't mean much in the big picture for either team. NJ is a different team with Jack. Canes should be able to beat a badly injured team.

The top 4 dmen for NJ deserve a nap. Talk about a workload.

Canes organization doesn't mess around when someone wants to leave.

this is the canes best chance at the cup if Andersen returns and plays like he did before. I think the problem with Carolina goalies is that they don’t see enough shots and when they do they are typically high danger. Andersen has been good in the net and I would say probably the best goalie in Carolina history (if he wins the cup).
Completely agree. Kochetkov also must have been nervous. He was jittery. Couldn't stay in position for a save. Rebound control was nonexistant. He settled in later. But both he and Andersen play way better when they see action throughout the game.

It's hard to say this with any certainty, but one of the greatest weaknesses of the Brind'Amour system is from one of its greatest strengths - shot suppression. Because the system limits chances, goalies sometimes go whole periods without seeing meaningful work. When you then get an odd man rush against, a cold goalie may find that harder to save than the other goalie, who has already made 7 odd man rush saves this period.

Full frontal attack - and not backin' down even for a moment. Brind'Amour armor style. I can dig it - can you as The Warriors - movie-79:nod: - would have it, remember?!

Every year there is a happy to just be here team who has no business being in the playoffs. This was NJD.

Team is built for regular season but filled with often injured brittle players. Hughes brothers bodies breaking down over and over again might be the downfall of this franchise for the next decade.

Passing on Zeev Buium to take Silayev is yikes.

They need to flip these prospects into power forward w size and speed.

You expect some dropoff regular season to post, but Aho continues to do his thing at the point per game mark. Since the Canes started making the playoffs (18-19), he's equal to Point (and Matthews if you round up) and north of Pastrnak, M. Tkachuk, Panarin and Barkov in playoff P/GP.
Rock steady as a river of points. But also humble as a pie. Aho.

All respect to Canes who are a very good team but Devils with all injuries can't beat most playoff teams. Devils fans should be encouraged for the future.
