Post-Series Talk: Carolina Hurricanes defeat New Jersey Devils 4-1

Canes are going to have to play way better in the second round. The Devils were decimated with injuries and kept the series close.
Carolina is a team that does "enough" to win but they aren't the type of offense to blowout a series. The Brindamour system has its pros and cons but very largely is what drives the team's success. I imagine they will be close in any series win or lose.

I understand the injuries, but last year was a "write-off year" as well, no? 2 years in a row starts to look like a trend.

At some point thet have to show something.

Players like Mercer, Markstrom, Nemec, Meier all underwhelmed.

They really need to have a big run next year.

Good to be back to the playoffs, frustrating to end it to the canes again. Devils will be back next season, hope they get a crack at the hurricanes again. They need to overcome that challenge.

Only watched the highlights, what the hell happened with the Devils after that 3-0 lead?

Congrats to Carolina!
They came out flying last night but injury issues started to wear out their legs basically. They had 3 of their top 6 dmen out for this game (and this series aside from game 1 really) and while the Canes did not have their A game in the first or anything remotely close to it they were coming out heavy after the first period. Especially in the 2nd and the first OT period.

My biggest takeaway from this series is how good Nico Hischier is. Not as flashy and doesn’t get as much PR as other 1OAs but man he is terrific.

The Devils were fighting this series with one arm tied behind their back from the beginning. This probably isn’t the best version of Carolina but New Jersey had no shot with all of the injuries.

The Devils need to be healthy. Thought the guys who played tried hard. Heischer is great. After that, they’re okay. But really missed Jack Hughes. Can he stay healthy is definitely a big question now with multiple shoulder surgeries.

I think I’ve soured on both Hamilton in Keefe. Dougie has been great in previous years but for a team that’s trying to contend hr makes too many mistakes (bad penalties, turnovers, etc.).

I started souring on Keefe as a mainly fully healthy Devils team started to slide in 2025 but after his comment on Kovacevic he lost me. Not a great playoff performance . Leaf fans were right.

I think the Devils will try to move Dougie but I think they’ll roll with Keefe again. I’m willing to give him another shot.

Always close. Even our sweeps aren’t sweeps!

this is the canes best chance at the cup if Andersen returns and plays like he did before. I think the problem with Carolina goalies is that they don’t see enough shots and when they do they are typically high danger. Andersen has been good in the net and I would say probably the best goalie in Carolina history (if he wins the cup).
