Why does he have to be hurt? In every single season of his career except last year, he had long stretches that looked just like this.
He’s a super streaky player that looks dreadful when he isn’t playing well. This isn’t new for him. It’s exactly who he’s been.

And then our defense gets dissected. Our roster isn’t bad at all. It’s a system issue. Bring in Jacques Martin for the defensive side of things.
I don’t think we were terrible. We weren’t good, but I’ve seen a lot worse.
The Bruins are the definition of a well-coached team with good leadership. I should say franchise, because they’re like this every year. Outside of their top line their team is nothing to write home about. They consistently get more out of their guys.
The Rangers have too many passengers right now. Fox was amazing and Schneider played with confidence, but Trouba and Jones were brutal. Jones is probably going to be in Hartford soon.
I don’t have the same disdain for fourth liners at a lot of folks do here. They are what they are. Carpenter is the worst fourth liner we’ve had in a looong time though. I can tolerate mediocrity, but he doesn’t do a single thing well. Even Glass fought and hit.
Blais is 1-2 games away from being a healthy scratch too. He’s playing to not get hurt, and it’s obvious to anyone watching. That trade by Drury might be the worst in a decade - I was never sold on Buch but he had 5x more value than we got.

Gallant still has another season+ at least but yeah I definitely think the coaching could be upgraded, and the players are too smart not to know it when it’s time. We all knew coming in GG was a “culture” coach with a shelf life
I've been counting the years until troybas nmc is up for 2 years now. What I didn't expect is we'd stupidly lose a top 4 dman replacement bc our rebuild saw us failing multiple top 10 picks and then compounding it by sacrificing young talented players loaded w potential in order to keep old ass, overpaid players on loooong deals. (Which troubs plays like he's 32 and is only getting older)

1.75 to be the team mascot and one of the worst players in hockey, what a gig.
Only thing I can say is that the jerseys looked much better than the previous retros in person
One other thing - I looove Trochek.
He doesn’t always make the right play, but he is a total Xs and Os guy. His hustle is next level.
He’s also the only guy other than Fox that realizes that powerplay goals aren’t scored on the rush. They’re scored when you set up and get possession.
P.S. I know second powerplay units are inferior to first units, but they still score. Ours may be the worst in recent memory. They get possession once every 4 games. Gallant uses it purely as a way to bring the clock down.

This team really needs Chytil back. The third line is a black hole non factor without him. His speed and straight line game leads to chances and helps the team sustain momentum.
I said in the GDT but it needs repeating, the defensemen on this team desperately need to get better at getting their shots through from the point. Jones had all day to get a shot off on Bostons first goal and he got it blocked and they go the other way and score. The only D on this team capable of getting shots through is Fox. The rest of them, Jones in particular if he wants to be an effective OFD in the NHL, need to get better. Lindgren and Trouba are the worst. Jones honestly needs to be better overall if he really wants to stay in the lineup.
I know there’s been arguments going on in here about Kreider being slow but it’s not that his actual speed has droped off too much, he’s fully capable of still being fast. He’s simply not using it. He’s playing a slow game so whether he has speed or not is irrelevant because he’s just puck watching and hesitating all game. I swear every shift he’s just standing still or gliding while something happens just out of his reach thay if he was moving his feeet he would’ve made a play on. He’s playing slow. That much is undeniable.
Overall the third period was a stinker. They need to be better than that. It is what it is. Boston is good and got some breaks on top of playing very well. Get Chytil back and they’ll be fine I think.

They’re a total early season fugazi, blowing their wad early with energy from a new coach and an old core that won’t hold up come playoff time.
We may be rivals but I’m a fan of Shesty and think he’ll turn it around this year. Expect to see you guys in one of the first 2 rounds again this year for round 3 in the playoffs.
