Sens picks in 2017: 1st, 4th, and 6th

Plus, we traded our 2018 2nd in the Brassard deal.

This team is not going to contend - these deals don't make any sense. If we were going to put our chips in, we should have gone big with a Duchene deal - that could have pushed us over the top.

Good trade for Ottawa. The Sens already have a very rich and deep prospect pool. What's a 3rd in a weak draft year going to do? They can't let Karlsson's prime years go to waste.

For sure. People aren't realizing just how bad the Sens 4th line has been this year. Its literally losing them games. By far their biggest area of weakness.

Chris Kelly 61 5 5 10 (-12)
Chris Neil 52 1 2 3 (-10)
Curtis Lazar 33 0 1 1 (-10)

Gotta also understand Boucher inherited this team as a coach.

Boucher is very system oriented and typically if he doesn't like what a player brings, or doesn't feel they are good enough, they don't get minutes. So with Neil and Lazar on the fourth line throughout the year, the Sens have essentially been handicapped as Boucher gives both of them minimal minutes.

What it seems like to me with Wingels, Stalberg, and Burrows* the Sens have been looking for opportunities throughout the year to add "Guy Boucher guys" at a bargain to solidify their bottom 6 and improve the team's depth for a hopeful playoff run. I don't think we'll see as many mid season depth/middle 6 acquisitions by the Sens in future years as they retain guys in the future who fit in Guy Boucher's system.

*he is the only one who wasn't cheap

Lazar trade will happen soon. Supposedly already a 2nd on the table so wonder if he can swindle a 1st...doubtful as it may be. I'd still be happy with recouping a 2nd.

Excited to see how much damage Ottawa can do in the playoffs now that they have additions like Brassard, Burrows, Stahlberg, Wingels. Along with Guy Boucher's tight system. This team is built for the playoffs. Also throw in the fact that the Atlantic is looking very weak this year, they can certainly make the conference finals.

Good deal for OTT, 3rd rounders have very minimal value. Stalberg is an NHL player.

As a fan of the Leafs, I'm way into what Dorion is doing to his team. Loving this.
