A few days later and a win under our belts and I’m even more convinced we’ll be fine than I was day of.
A fun aspect of this that hasn’t been discussed as much: Tulsky’s whole refrain all offseason was bringing guys in that fit the way the Hurricanes want to play under Rod Brind’Amour. It was his oft-repeated summary of the offseason deals.
Well, we’ve always had one guy who was a bit of an outlier there, Necas. So, when it came time to trade him, well, how often do you get a Mikko Rantanen? You’re getting rid of an anti-pattern guy for an even better anti-pattern guy, so go do it, why not?
With the dismount of Rantanen here, we get a guy who, by all accounts, is a picture perfect RBA guy in Stankoven.
So, though circuitous and tumultuous, we’ve ended up making a series of moves that perfect fit the stated MO of the front office from the offseason. Identity FTW!
