Rantanen is better but holy crap Colorado gets even faster with this trade! And Necas is a beast, too. Good push.

Skating wise yes but that's the only aspect. Necas is much slower in terms of passing, processing the game and making quick decisions that lead to goals or assists.

I'm wondering if MacKinnon and Necas even fit each other.

Colorado were not willing to pay the asking price of Rantanen and decided to get assets instead of losing him to FA. Smart move IMO.

Shockingly, despite being 6th in points, I really don't think the Avs will miss Mikko's offense. Over the last couple years he's really lost his drive and energy out there and become more of a skilled passenge. IMO. Not worth $14mil for sure.

But I hope he gets recharged in Carolina and this is the missing piece they needed. Would be nice to see Carolina atop the east finally.

First of all WTF is Colorado doing? And secondly this is a massive risk for Carolina. Rantanen is basically a rental. It screams like the Guentzel trade although Necas wasn’t staying anyway so it makes more sense. I don’t get this at all from Colorado

The East is wide open. I think this is a smart move by Carolina. The East has been this ripe for the picking in a long, long time. If you think you have a chance to win it all, you got for it.
