holy f***ing shit. Would have liked to keep Necas but WOW.

Get this f***ing extension done this time Tulsky.
If you guys kept Necas in the deal the it would have been Svech+ or Jarvis+ instead

Necas was apparently leaving as a UFA so could transfer of asset if the Canes can retain Rantanen LT

I completely dis

I completely disagree. The Avs were not winning the cup this year with the lack of death. Paying Rants $14 million a year only makes that depth disappear either further. Their strength down the middle is weak. They needed a proper 2C

I have said for over two years now that the window would slam shut the second they give Rants that large raise. Makar soon thereafter.

Center depth never hurts and letting Rants leave July 1 would be crippling. I think it’s tiddy work. Get a player with only 9 less points, is younger, players center and signed for another year.

I don’t hate it at all
Paying Rantanen that wouldn't kill your depth. The cap is about to explode for several years in a row. Expectations are only going up. Locking up elite players is going to favor the team, even if there is some overpay

First of all WTF is Colorado doing? And secondly this is a massive risk for Carolina. Rantanen is basically a rental. It screams like the Guentzel trade although Necas wasn’t staying anyway so it makes more sense. I don’t get this at all from Colorado

Instead you are getting the great Jack Drury...
Indeed, don't care. You seem to be missing the fact that the Avs really need cap space going forward and one of the few consolations about losing Rantanen is clearing that space. The Avs are otherwise at risk of becoming a horrifically top loaded team with zero depth. Adding KK would have destroyed that cap flexibility.
