Of course, why should they think otherwise when their team got away with Stamkos crosschecking a prone Rielly and then jumping Matthews, Kucherov jumping both Rielly and O'Rielly, and Maroon checking McCabe into the boards with a dirty hit from behind right on the numbers.

Nylander was god awful defensively this game, it doesn't get stated enough. First goal was all on his lazy backcheck and the 3rd goal he didn't even react when the goalscorer entered his zone on the ice, no pressure at all.

Yeah, he factored in on the game tying goal but at what cost.. they need to staple him to ROR or Matthews.

Agreed, he has to be better. When he's in a defensive role or we're hemmed in our own end we might as well be a man short he's that worthless. He has to be better or he's going to end up costing us big.

I legit do not think there is a team in the entire league that I would cheer for the Bolts over. Like easily my most hated team in the league and it isn't even remotely close. f*** everything about that entire organization from top to bottom.

I've followed the Lightning for a while. Seems like the way they motivate themselves as an organization is to play a very pissy brand of hockey. They thrive playing that undignified, personally insulted game and want to engage in a troll-trolled dynamic. I'm not sure it's in the Leafs nature to engage in this full on. But I'd say you have pick your moments cause there aren't enough fists in the entire league to feed Tampa.

No, Nylander played 14:27 with Tavares at 5v5, and was a key part of both goals against. You can't just blame Tavares every time Nylander does something wrong.
He played 1:13 on a line with O'Rielly and Knies at 5v5, and got outshot and outchanced, but Rielly scored a goal off a faceoff win by O'Rielly, where Nylander did absolutely nothing. You can't just credit Nylander every time somebody else does something right.

I keep seeing people blaming Nylander's backcheck for their first goal, but that's straight up not his guy unless three things happen: Tavares isn't covering his man (he wasnt), Rielly loses F1 (he did), and the other defenseman has to leave his position on F2 to cover Rielly's mistake (he did).

Unfortunately all those things happened, and it looks bad on Nylander because he was closest to the guy who scored. The thing is though he's both not supposed to be covering that guy if everyones doing their jobs in the first place, AND he was still *this* close to stopping him.

Trying to remember the last time we won a game like this when we out-goalie the opposition and score clutch goals to win.

Full marks because the goalie is part of the team and we won with clutch scoring like successful playoff teams do.

I've got to give credit to Keefe. He sees that we have something special in Knies. This is a kid who has had maybe one full practice with the team and he's on the ice in the last minute on the 6 on 5 and on the ice for the OT goal. Keefe also tried him out with Matthews and Marner. Keefe sees the things we see. Knies is not only a big body, but he has nifty puck skills, That move in the dying seconds of the 2nd period was elite. The confidence this kid has is off the charts to be doing these things in a pressure packed playoff against an elite experienced team.

I wouldn't give him too much credit. My wife, who knows very little about hockey, even noticed him
