Injury Report: Captain JT injury (aftermath)

CBC is reporting Tavares is out of playoffs indefinitely so it appears he’s out for the entire post season as no surprise. Feels like this season is done almost as fast as it began. Still be nice to see the young core step up. But I have no faith in them competing with our centre depth deep into the playoffs

Out indefinitely means they don't know enough yet on how he's going to recover...he just got his concussion last night and left the hospital this morning...everybody's brain is different...if he feels great in a week, then maybe he could start working his way back, but if it gets worse, then of course it's unlikely that he'll return this post season.

Good point. Im half asleep after a long day on water so I read it as worst case scenario. Bedtime for me. I’m keeping my fingers crossed he’s back for round 2 or 3.

The start of Round 3 should be what we're all aiming for (in a realistic best-case scenario). Hoping the next few weeks go well for him and his team.

I can't help but think of Nathan Horton's injury when thinking of Tavares injury
Anyone worried this could be his last NHL game?

Horton played 3 seasons of injury rittled hockey after that hit, and played a very good playoff 2 years after putting up 19 points in 22 games. Even Marc Savard returned to the Ice after that terrible hit from Cooke that left him almost paralyzed. Same with Paul Kariya after the Stevens hit.

So no, I don't think its his last game but will it affect his career? That is unpredictable at this point. He could bounce back like Patches and Crosby or he can slowly deteriorate like Kariya.

Its all a wait and see game, my hope is he will bounce back. He's always been aware on the ice, but who knows how its gonna affect him. I would say its safe to say, he's probably not gonna be putting up career highs ever again sadly.

I hope for game two the leafs decide to put up the good ol' mark messier elbows. Anytime someone comes in for a hit keep the elbows up. After a period of that the habs would think twice before taking liberties.

No. Lots of players get concussions. Just because the play looked awful doesn't necessarily mean that his concussion is worse or more severe.
I was thinking of other injured players that I thought never played against after the injury but completely forgot and was reminded by TheScandal89 that some of those players did play again.
I watched the Horton hit and felt like Tavares hit was close to that

Why are there so many diagnoses and speculative return dates on this thread? None of us have a clue. This isn't a broken arm.
Exactly he could easily be back in a couple weeks or he could be struggling to return by the start of next season. Who knows.

The silver lining if there is one, behind the JT injury, might be the added motivation and incentive for his teammates to "win it for Johnny", so that the Leafs are still playing when he returns.

Somewhat relieved to hear he has “just” a concussion. But that obviously can be very serious in its own right. Hoping for a smooth and 100% recovery.

Being cleared of neck and spine injuries are huge, as those can be career threatening, and always potentially a concern in these types of trauma incidents.
Yep, good news. The knee injury not so much.

That kinda game won’t help you win. Just play. You are way more talented than us.
