Don’t think they could have predicted Miro would look this good this soon. Really encouraging.
Agreed. Living upto his top 5/10 pre-draft/pre illness rating. It has been really fast. Like to see him playing up to VHL full time though And ultimately getting some KHL time. I still think he is likely to be in KHL next year as well, but man would it be great if we could get him to NA next year.

this is Ovi like goal
There are many things that remind me of Ovy. I don't get to watch him play and wondering if he hits. It's no biggie though, but wow how wonderful it was to get a heavy hitting forward with super elite skills. It was a dream come true for this Caps fan. Hopefully, Miro can flourish here in the NHL.

He has faught twice. Has some crushing hits. He is only 6’1 I think. He‘ll at least fill out some more.

It's worth at least acknowledging that this looks to be a generational WHL crop. Certainly offensively you don't typically see this level of upside. Craig has nine WHLers in his top 32. There's the potential for a few more and it's not chalk full of defensive D and grinders as is more typical. Obviously there's Bedard at the top sure to become the first WHLer drafted first overall since RNH in 2011. But there's a lot on offer this season and you wonder if that shapes Mahoney's view even more favorably in what's already a very strong draft overall. I don't think it dictates organizational strategy since other factors are massively more influential but it's a bit of info to keep in mind given historical tendencies. Perhaps if nothing else it could entice them to more seriously consider off-season roster restructuring that results in more picks.

I think there are probably more first round level talents than normal at this stage of the season so if there's a year where a strategic sell-off could reap strong rewards it may be this one. I don't think the Caps are a bottom 10 team. I doubt they sell off absent injuries decimating them. But even if they stand pat and ride it out something in the 13-18 range would present solid upside. A guy like Cristall, as seen in those REG/KEL highlights, could go in that range and at least in terms of pure offensive upside offers quite a bit.

Adam Fantilli is giving off Malkin behind Ovi, Eichel behind McDavid vibes. He is dominating as a freshman in a way not seen since Eichel. He’s going to be a really good consolation prize for someone. And then you have Michkov, Smith, Carlsson and a few others and the top of this draft looks really stacked.

If there is a year to miss the playoffs and get a mid 10s pick, this is absolutely the year
Wouldn't it be wild if GMBM and Ted acknowledged internally over the summer that this was likely given missing Backy and Wilson, and some of the other roster issues?

I would not be surprised if they intended all along to just let it play out and hoped for the high pick and a quick bounce back if they can't win a playoff berth with a limited roster.

This is where RMNB excels. Good stuff right here.
Agreed. Wapo is invisible garbage when it comes to Caps prospects.

“I went through four cycles of chemotherapy,” Miroshnichenko said. “The second one was the most painful for me. I went to the hospital to lie down. I could no longer be at home. After the second course, they said that everything was clean. I went through the third and fourth courses of chemotherapy calmly, with joy.”

Now, Miroshnichenko is ready to put the work in to make his way to the NHL. He is well on his way after his impressive start in the Russian junior ranks this season and will get to show even more with this KHL debut.

“I will prove that [the Capitals] did not make a mistake with the choice,” Miroshnichenko finished. “But this must be done step by step. And first, play in Russia. Climb the stairs – MHL, VHL, KHL, national team. Everything has its time. And whatever happens, it’s all for the best.”

Anyone catch any of Chesley last night? I meant to watch but missed it. That Minnesota Gophers team is stacked.

I think that Suzy, Chesley, Miro, Lapy and CMM could be a pretty decent base to build a fairly competitive team off. If we get a lottery pick in the 2023 draft there's a lot of nice of nice options there. Im personally a little high on Halttunen but im always a sucker for size.
