I'm going to go ahead and assume the Emirates Hockey League does not have a transfer agreement with the NHL, which is why the Capitals still retain his NHL rights.

The Mighty Camels 3rd string goalie is 50 years old. He appeared in one game last season, had a .789sv% and a 9.00GAA... and won the game.

I want to watch play in, that league.

We have some legit middle 6 talent on the farm right now. And a couple of of top 4 RHD. Not sure LuJo and Alexeyv are more than bottom pair guys on left. I don’t think it is Stanley Cup rebuild depth but enough to fill out the roster and get top line talent in FA.

wish suzy would produce more 5v5, but then again regina hasn't been that good at 5v5 in general without bedard so im not going to blame him, they would be putrid without him scoring a billion times each game

I'm more bullish on Leonard & Barlow it seems. After Smith at 8 I'd consider those two to round out the top 10. In any event I think there's 13--the top 11 here plus those other two--that should be in the mix to go top 10. And there's plenty of time for that competition to thicken up further.

Unfortunate he can't come over next year without some contract termination bullshit that I still don't understand but it will be worth the wait

I believe Washington has the opportunity to buy out the remaining year and bring him over, unless new KHL contracts don’t have that clause anymore.
I hope they do so, especially considering how the KHL handles development of young players (kind of like our nhl team right now )

I get that the early returns on Miro are very promising, but it's been 4 games in the MHL. Might need to pump the brakes on the hype train a bit. He's actually playing in a lower league than he was last year (the VHL). For context, in the handful of games that Kuznetsov played in the MHL, he was nearly a 2PPG player (31 points in 17 games spread across ages 17-19, the MHL didn't exist when he was younger than that). Heck, even Orlov put up 13 points in 8 games in the MHL across his age 18-19 seasons. Nikita Gusev had 192 points in 120 MHL games, and he didn't end up working out as an NHLer. The best example for hope would be Nikita Kucherov, who had plenty of MHL time and not a lot of KHL time, but even he had one season in the Q (and dominated the WJHC) before joining the NHL ranks. Kucherov had 43 points in 23 MHL games in his D+1 season.

None of this is to say Miro is bad or Miro won't pan out. Just that it's awfully early to start getting excited, and certainly too early to envision him on an NHL 1st line. 1st line NHL talents should be absolutely dunking on the competition in the MHL, but unfortunately so do some players who arent 1st line talents.

I agree. I think the reaction here is mostly just the positive buzz of a couple new recruits lighting it up. Miro hitting and scoring like this after so much time off due to an illness that forced him to pretty much rebuild his entire body is a really good sign, and a welcome feelgood story these days.

Yeah, no. Getting excited is absolutely warranted here. The kid is playing hockey for the first time since his battle with f***ing cancer.

I think you are right there if the old rules still apply.

But first he needs to play in KHL which I assume is coming soon. Caps have a history of giving them another year in Russia and I suspect that will happen here. So he comes to NA in 24-25. Lots of development from there to here. But I’m excited!
