Wtf is Pionk doing on the PK there? The puck is in the far wall from him and he’s way way way too tight to the rest of the Ranger players leaving so much space open behind him, with the best player in the league from that spot behind him no less. When you’re too tight like that, you’re not really doing anything or eliminating any passing lanes or anything and then if the puck gets through they have way too much space and time to do anything they want and create some havoc or get an easy high end chance.

Stop incessantly bitching about someones draft position. It adds nothing, provokes no conversation, and makes you look like a f***ing child.

This goes for Olof Lindom, the ghost of Antoine LaFleur, the corpse of Brandon Halverson, the effigy of Hugh Jessiman, those Ferraro twins, and countless others too. Just stop.

im trying to figure out wy NBC website has an Ondrei Pavelec on the page....

Fast is easily a 3rd liner. "Barely a 4th liner" is a straight up lie.

On a bottom 7 team sure he’s a 3rd liner you got me.

On a good team he’s a 4th liner. Like when he played his best hockey for us. On the 4th line. If he was a good 3rd liner he wouldn’t be making a million dollars.

Guy has 20 pts and he’s played half the year in the top 6.

Realistically though, I think DeAngelo's upside is probably similar to a guy on the other bench - Carlson. Neither are particularly the best at anything, but they both do so much well. Depending on who you ask Carlson is probably a top 15 D in the league

The Caps only have two more high-danger chances than we do.

We haven't been good by any stretch, but they're tossing a lot of garbage from outside. Winnable game.

You say "oh, he plays in the top 6!" and ignore that he has 0 minutes and 0 seconds of PP time.

He is an average defender, excellent skater, good offensively but he isnt elite at anything but maybe skating. I really like his play but if people keep elevating him higher than he is everyone is going to be disappointed.
Above average at defending, I would say. Also, I think his passing is elite, while his vision is near elite.

Lias has looked much better since his last call up. He’s looked good to me. He’s still a young player trying to put it all together.

Stop focusing on where he was drafted.

The only reason he’s here is because of his draft position. It’s certainly not because of his play or any flashes of future brilliance. Let’s be honest here.

Fast is a quality player no matter where he is slotted. Good penalty killer, good forechecker and a smart overall player who plays harder than his body should allow. I don't know what anyone's problem with him would be? He shouldnt be on the top line but he is an ideal 3rd liner.

That's still not 'barely a 4th liner.' Fast is undoubtedly an NHL player, something you were convinced he was not for multiple years.

And I didn't want him on the first line. Jumping to extremes to try and prove your points (and choosing like one random poster who is obviously an outlier) just makes your argument significantly worse.

Fast is more of a 3rd liner. Imo. The way I see it. ES points..

4th line - 10 to 20
3rd line - 20 to 30
2nd line - 30 to 40
1st line - 40 to 50

Lias is awful. Zero skill. If he wasn’t a 7th overall pick no one here would give him a second look. You all know it. He and Pionk cannot be core guys moving forward.

I don’t think you are objective about him to be honest, he is playing a perfectly OK for a rookie. Moving a lot better.

I think the problem is that you thought a 7th overall pick in the NHL was something that it isn’t, and you couldn’t understand the reasons for why Lias had some issues at certain stages, and now you are scrambling to justify those views that were pretty wrong.
