Above average at defending, I would say. Also, I think his passing is elite, while his vision is near elite.

Not many wanna admit it but he tries to go up the middle too much forcing something that isn't there so I cant give him elite passing or vision. When he keeps it simple I agree though his passing is really good maybe he figures it out I don't know but I dont see a potential top 10 dmen in the league, that's fine with me because he is a pretty darn good dman and a good start to building the d.

Agreed but what he lacks in height I think he’s strong. He doesn’t get pushed around like Pionk

It's not as much about strength as it is Hockey IQ. Pionk is a low IQ player who gets caught out of position a lot and puts himself in tough spots and running around all over the place. DeAngelo is definitely smarter and more poised.

I don’t think you are objective about him to be honest, he is playing a perfectly OK for a rookie. Moving a lot better.

I think the problem is that you thought a 7th overall pick in the NHL was something that it isn’t, and you couldn’t understand the reasons for why Lias had some issues at certain stages, and now you are scrambling to justify those views that were pretty wrong.

I actually think he looks much more NHL ready than Chytil or Howden. His ceiling obviously isn't as high as Chytil's, but right now I see him as more ready for this level of hockey.

No one said he will become a top 10 d-man in the league. They said “if he had a shot, he would have top 10 d-man potential.”

Can you clarify the first part? I don’t see how you can debate his passing. He nails nearly every pass. Vision, sure. I think it’s close to elite, but I can see why some would disagree.

DeAngelo has been kicking around the NHL and AHL for a while now though. Pionk is 2 years removed from College hockey, he needs time. I'm not comparing the two because I do think DeAngelo is better but Pionk is still learning to be a pro.

Clearly nails every pass? Come on.

I think Pionks problems are his hips... :help: he gets caught and cant adjust fast enough

Always trailing the play

Did not watch first period but what i've seen Hajek looks very solid. Patient in the d zone and makes some nice subtle plays like that facing the boards under pressure thru the legs pass to Chytil to exit the zone.

We really need to start losing some games.
Well we have our backup and it's not working too well. The fact of the matter almost all the time this team is in games. That inevitably leads to some kind of points even if its OTL's

Pionk isn't a kid kid though, he's 23 not 19/20. He's actually younger than TDA. I haven't written him off completely yet, but I do not think he will ever be a contributor in the NHL. He just doesn't have it IMO.
