Speculation: Caps Roster General Discussion (Coaching/FAs/Cap/Lines/etc) | 2025-26 Summer Edition

  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.
Who is left without a spot now? Miro perhaps stays as an extra for the camp. Beauvillier?

I think we could re-coup that 2nd for him in this market.

Wow. I like this a lot.

If he can have 5 good years here this is a big win. By then cap have raised by a lot and theres always the Robidas-Island if it goes that way.

We are making the big moves. Our team got whole lot better in less than 48 hours and all we gave up was couple secondary pieces.

Exciting stuff!

Tuch thinking "84 million" when he shot that puck.

Ok so where does Tuch likely play in your lineup?

Thanks
Top 6 right or left wing. :dunno:

Not being snarky... we really don't know exactly what the lines will be, and knowing Carbs, they will change monthly at least. Tuch will be the highest paid player on the team by far, unless they give Ovi a retirement gift contract. He'll probably be 1RW or LW, with PLD as his C most likely.

Y'all are intentionally misinterpreting my point. This isn't to shit on our players or that archetype of player. It's saying we don't need *another* one of that type of player. We need more players who can create the offense so that those big body complimentary-types can play their role.

(Also Ovechkin has very much been of this ilk for a while)
You seem to have a preconceived notion that big forwards can’t create. I strongly disagree. If anything it’s easier for them to create.

I think you’re pointing the finger at the wrong player type.

I think Beauvilier is finally in his correct spot as a bottom 6 winger.

You can move him if you need space, otherwise there’s no problem.

I don't have that notion. Just that Tuch isn't a player who creates his own offense (at least not anymore). To use the most hyperbolic example that all Caps fans can relate to, young Ovechkin created tons of his own offense. But Ovie of the past few years has not created his own offense. Ryan Leonard hopefully will be a guy who can create his own offense if he continues to develop, but it's not 100% there yet. But the Capitals have needed more guys capable of manufacturing plays, creativity, and creating something for themselves or their linemates over the past few years, and Tuch doesn't address that shortcoming. If you built a roster of 12 Tuchs (or 12 Wilsons or 12 A Pros or whatever), that roster would struggle to score. NOT because those are bad players or those aren't players you want on a team, but because you need the dynamic playmakers as well to help these types of guys maximize their potential. The Capitals haven't been lacking in size or forechecking, they've been lacking in dynamism and creativity. That's such a big part of why Cole Huston was a breath of fresh air last year.
