Me thinks they may have some buyers remorse on acquiring Eller.
I don’t think there is buyers remorse with Eller. At the time of that trade Lappy wasn’t working and McMichael was killing it at 2LW and they didn’t want to move him to center. He knows the caps and the culture and fits. No doubt his skill set has diminished and we won’t get another encore here past this season. I do wonder if this opens up an opportunity to try to get McMichael at 3C but that means sitting Eller

Protas-Strome-OV
Mangi-PLD-Wilson
Vrana-McMichael-Miro
Duhaime-Dowd-Raddysh (please don’t touch this line
Eller (could play Eller at Wing I guess and put Mangi at 3LW and Vrana eating popcorn)

I don’t think so. I think they want to try and get McMichael going.

Of course a negative slant makes sense for you —

And the positive does for me.

So there is that

He is???

How long do these lines last tomorrow. I would love nothing more if Tom Wilson got Lavi fired after a big win.

And the Rangers were 28th in todays new power rankings on espn

I've despised every HC take when they throw a fourth liner on the 1st line.

Don't mind back seeing McM at the center position he was always flashed better. And props for him to continue to show on the wing.

Assuming we will be “all-in” at the deadline, is only Leonard off the table?

Some potential 3Cs out there.

This might be off topic, or in the wrong place, (but since it's technically roster related I threw it in here) but if the Capitals lock up Chychrun and Thompson long term, are the Capitals likely long term Stanley Cup competitors again (assuming once Carlson is gone they find a 1 RD to replace him) post Ovi era

Cristall - Strome - Leonard
McMichael - Luc-Dubois - Wilson (C)
Protas - Lapierre - Parascak
(insert 4th line here)

Others: Current Roster Players unsigned long term ie Mangiapane, Vrana, Raddysh etc; Rybinski, Trineyev, Suzdalev, I Protas anyone I've left out... Frank, etc)

Chyrchrun - ????
Fehervary - Roy
Sandin - ???

Others

Alexeyev - Iorio
Hutson - Chesley
Muggli -Allen

(Prospects I've left out & future signings)

Thomspon
(Insert Goalie Here)

Just not seeing a lot of long term holes that'll need patching otherwise, even if some of the prospects just don't work out at all

That's a lot easier said than done ...

They've put themselves in a great position but probably need at least one of Leonard, Cristall, Parascak, or Hutson to become no-doubt superstars. Not to mention having guys like Protas, McMichael, Strome, PLD, Chychrun, Sandin who are all having career years all maintain their current level.

They need to find a 1st RD or a guy with that potential who is beefing with his current management or refuses to sign an extension for whatever reason and get him for half the price ala Dubois. You just don't get those dudes with 25ish picks

No idea who they should add other than Leonard.

A veteran defenseman… maybe?

Brian Bellows? Sergei Fedorov?

I’m actually stunned at what a good position the organization is in at this stage.
Yeah not easy to find any big needs on the team. Might be possible to improve the third line a little more, but Leonard could fix that by himself. The lines are in general working very well and have chemistry. Trading for someone like Panarin etc might ruin that and scoring havent really been a problem for the team. A little down right before Ovi was back, but in general they are generating offence while playing an overall solid game.

The organization might never have been in a better place with a very good team on the ice, but also a prospect pool that starts to be very deep. Leonard, Hutson, Cristall, Parascak and Protas are the top names right now. Then Sikora and Mateiko just had very good WJC U20 aswell right now. Allen is also a talented player.

Also you already have a lot of young players being core members of the team now with McM, Protas, Fehervary, Sandin and the trio of Chychrun, Strome and PLD arent old either. Then Miro is working on establishing himself on the team. Pretty much the only one that I think I expected more from is Lapierre, but hopefully he just needs time like McM needed.

They'll almost certainly trade for a vet 7D so that they won't need to play McIlrath 7 or 8 minutes of heavily sheltered ice time in case of injury. Beyond that, I wouldn't be surprised if they stand pat and just add Leonard.

They've hit well on their recent draft picks. Reward for that for the scouts usually isn't moving a lot picks. We've already done our deadline trade, IMO. If there is an injury to a D, they'll address it but other than that Leonard is their deadline add.

If Paracek hits then you’re talking about back to back drafts where they found starters in the 1st and 2nd rounds, minimum. Possibly more. That’s how you rebuild a team.

The only thing really lacking is superstar upside which could become apparent when the playoffs kick off and things get tighter.
