Just cracked a little.

I suspect we see OV after the Christmas break. Then again, it is OV so we could see him in mid-December. I have my doubts. So go with what you got.

He’s the worst man. He’s such a condescending douche, and with no reason to be.
That site has been awful for years. Clickbait, news "aggregation" if not just straight up plagiarism, and run by the most annoying, self-important people around. The quality at Japer's has remained high but the volume has (understandably) dropped, Tarik moving on from the Athletic sucks too. We've gotten lucky though with a really great run of Post writers and Sammi Silber is doing great work too.

Funny, I thought I was the only one who got that vibe many years ago.
I'm not a real big fan of people pushing agendas into my sports. It's why I quit watching most ESPN broadcasting outside of live sporting events and it's why I have RMNB blocked from my social media caps feeds. They're trash.

What to do with Lapierre? Clearly not a NHL player right now but obviously too good for the AHL.

He needs to go back to Hershey and play top minutes in all situations again. He's just not there yet. Be it fatigue from so much hockey or not. He's only 22, it's not like he's approaching bust status yet. Still very early in the process for him.

What's wrong with Tarik going to Monumental? Now Monumental has interviews worth watching and he puts out about the same amount otherwise.

It’s like people didn’t even watch HL last night. He was not bad.

Classic Caps game on Monumental…..1/31/2008……damn that roster was fun…..flawed but fun.

He had a nice take away in the neutral zone that almost led to a good chance. The skill is there, it just needs to be put together. I wouldn't mind giving him some looks up top as a possible confidence boost, but I want to see Miro get some looks as well.

I know changing around that 2L might be frowned upon right now but there are plenty of chairs to shuffle on the deck if we need new looks.

He's still doing good work but it is different covering the team for a national site vs. working directly for the team's local media arm. Obviously it's great for him personally, but I think in general it is one less person reporting on the team

RMNB will fold once Ovi retires…
I'm surprised they didn't once Lavi moved on ...

He's not 'neutral' anymore.

I still appreciate his content a lot, but you can tell that his answers/thoughts aren't quite as genuine as they used to be. And we're obviously in a period where the organization is pretty much excelling across the board (Caps/Hershey/prospects doing well) right now. When things inevitably turn negative, will he have the creative freedom to write and produce pieces that are critical of the organization? I doubt it based on what Mike Vogel has churned out over the years.

I've moved past the expectation of neutrality for outlets covering teams. Access is too much of a commodity for reporters and all the networks are partners with the leagues. Same number of people that it's been following the team that I like and 1 has more access.

TEB has always been pretty positive, even if he had a critique in the past he'd say it in a positive way. Having one less voice to call out bad moves isn't a good thing but it's not like it's a square peg in a round hole. Hopefully if things go off the rails the Athletic will have Strang or a new beat writer do an expose.

Oh yea you definitely don't need to be on a team's payroll to carry water for them and hockey media is particularly bad about that in general. Would still say it is still worse though when you're on the team's payroll.

Get a load of this asshole.

How does one come up with that kind of headline in a 2-1 loss against a good team like the Avs?

I would understand if they lost 6-1 while getting spotted 5 goals against in the 3rd, but not a close game like this. Also their first game without Ovi, the team needs to adapt to this new reality.

I hope they fold once Ovi retires, or even earlier if possible.

Definitely not. I blocked him on Twitter years ago. Hassett is a less-talented, more-annoying version of Grant Paulsen. The only stuff I read on RMNB are the Morning After numbers they post if I'm too lazy to look them up myself or the occasional fun, human interest piece that made them interesting in the first place.

Their analysis is, for lack of a better term, ass. And biased; once they form an opinion, they will use any numbers they can to back them up. They love to misuse statisitics to fit a narrative instead of letting the data show them a conclusion. If you recall, RMNB were the leaders in drumming up opinion against Orpik and Wilson and they are incapable of understanding anything about the sport that isn't fed to them on Twitter or through an aggregated stats site. They strike as your typical internet warriors who never played the sport at any level, found a cool niche that made them fun and interesting, got hypnotized by the smell of their own farts, and think they're a lot wittier and smarter than they actually are. Between most of the writers and the posters on that site, it's a never-ending cycle of douchebagery and terrible takes.
