Speculation: Caps Roster General Discussion (Coaching/FAs/Cap/Lines/etc) | 2024-25 Summer Edition

Has a college player ever hit the B performance bonuses? Iirc they are top 10 in scoring or something pretty difficult to achieve.

Haven’t done an exhaustive look, but it’s rare for any ELC player to hit a B performance bonus. Many currently elite NHL players didn’t achieve any. Including the majority of 1st overall picks.

Nothing against Beauv, but this is what I’d go with next. I think having at least 3 righties on the right wing would help them - recently they’ve been playing with just 2 at RW, none of whom in the bottom six - and we need to find a way of making that third line work. This isn’t the time to reinvent the wheel, go back to what has worked for much of the season and find a way to get the guys going again.

Assuming he’s not on IR, I would also sit LT for a few games to let him reset, and then throw him in for the last stretch in the hope he finds his rhythm again.

This is why leading the league and having nothing to play for seeding-wise is a curse
and why Will vs. Skill is huge
come Round 1 everyone in the East except us has been fighting for a spot or fighting for seeding
they're getting tuned up in a good way, while we're getting tuned up in a bad way

and we're here going "gee whiz why do we suck rn?"
when you don't have hardly any adversity for 35 games then all of a sudden you find yourself in the stretch and needing to "flip the switch" you discover the power's out and teams are punching you in the face b/c they've had to fight their way to qualify while we've been sitting pretty in the #1 Throne for months

The good is there's still 7gms to get it together and it's better to get this adversity reality check now rather than in 2+ weeks when shit gets real

"Since signing a six-year extension on January 27, Thompson has lost 6 of his 15 appearances, posting a 3.05 goals-against average and a .888 save percentage." (doesnt include last night)

6 more years! 6 more years!

Thanks, man! We can always count on you to piss in our cornflakes!

doom... Doom... DOOOOOOM!!!

I'd much rather sit Mangi over Beauv.

I feel like Beauvillier can actually make plays without flubbing on passes or losing the puck. I'm exaggerating of course, but Mangi isn't as impressive to me, and Beauvillier has more skill.

I think Beauvillier has been one of our better players. He can score. Crashes the net. Forechecks well.

I’d like to see Raddysh back in and Mangi out. I’d like to flip our centers and play PLD with Lenny.

Ovi-Strome-Wilson
Protas-PLD-Lenny
McMichael-Eller-Raddysh
Duhaime-Dowd-Beauvillier

Also, I assume Roy is back on Friday. But I’d like to have McIlrath in the lineup against Carolina next Thursday. Don’t want Willy out there taking on all the tough stuff. We need him healthy (and not suspended) heading into the playoffs. He is just too valuable.

Jesus Christ, the Linsey/Matt Roy news is devastating. I can't even begin to imagine.

Having been through it, tougher on the woman, but devastating either way. Our only solace is knowing it wasn’t a viable pregnancy, but an awful thing to experience. I can’t even imagine the pain from 3+.

I hope they find comfort from family and friends.

Been there as well. Was way harder on my wife. And they have apparently had two before this. But at any rate, prayers up. Will leave it alone. Focus on hockey. Can’t wait to be at the game tonight.

This is a great 40 second clip with Leonard. Really like this guy! Very humble for someone with the ego he surely has. But i love how he talks about maximizing each shift. Because this is something i saw lacking in BC. Kinda would disappear and cherry pick. At least he knows it a bit of a blind spot he needs to work on.

I've become such a PLD fan.

“The 23-year-old had his foot wrapped in the locker room and was walking around on it gingerly. He is set to be reevaluated on Washington's off day on Saturday before the team heads to Long Island.

Right now, it's unclear whether Protas will suit up for Sunday's matinee with the New York Islanders, though there's hope that the injury isn't as severe as it looked, as he wasn't initially putting much weight, if any, on his left foot.“
