Summarized :

If he's not back before Christmas, he will be back after Christmas.

So we can rule out that he could be back during christmas?

Its better than i feared, worse than i hoped.

Was hoping it would be like the time i felt crushing pain in my wrist for clicking too much F4 yesterday to refresh news for Ovie injury, but then it felt good again after resting couple hours.

we don't know shit still

The internet experts have it as:
MCL/ACL/GDTRFB/fracture/bone bruise/ankle sprain/brain cloud/hysterical pregnancy/hangnail/whatever

We'll know *a little* more after the doctors today when they choose to tell us a tiny bit more on a timeline

Well shit, there goes my plan of asking Santa to fix him.

Vacation with the camels coming up? Then another one during the 4 Nations -break.

Rocket isn't out of reach if you finish with 65 goals in 70 games.

They should literally just plug Miro into Ovi's role on the ice and see how it goes. The lines are clicking don't overthink it. Worst case scenario you limit his icetime in game on the line type situations. But realistically the Ovi line is getting a lot of favorable starts and matchups since PLD and Dowds lines are handling the heavy lifting so in a sense Miro would already be insulated by playing the same role as 8.

6 to 8 weeks

In Ovi years that's like next Thursday.

"I tore my ACL playing frisbee"
"I stepped awkwardly in dog shit and sprained my ankle"
"I hurt my knee on a late night expedition to the fridge for a piece of cheese"

I did all three of those things. Except it wasn't cheese; it was pie. The last piece of pie, and it was dark cuz I was tryin to be stealthy. Never was clear what exactly hit me, so my wife prolly gave me the ol' Tanya Harding. It was apple pie. Worth it.

How do you know these things?

Suck, I was so pumped because he was going to hit the record still scoring at a good rate. Glad he sounds like he will be back this year but it will be hard to come back and pick that pace back up.

But then Ovie does Ovie things so….

Could just be me coping but maybe not the worst thing for him to sit for a few weeks. 82 games + playoffs is a lot, especially at 39. He looked totally cooked and exhausted last year in the playoffs. Maybe playing 60 games will keep him fresher. Sucks for the chase, but hopefully it’s only delaying the inevitable.

Do not want him to come back too soon and look like he’s laboring out there.

Yep. No need to spend all your time worrying about something that can’t be helped. We have a very good team, we can win the games without him while he gets healthy. If it stops him from getting the record this year, he’s still under contract next year. Someone’s going to get their opportunity to step up, whether it’s Miro or Lapi (I hope Miro gets his games, I wouldn’t love him getting called away to just sit), so hopefully someone gets to shine.

It’ll be interesting to see how the PP setup is without him. If Miro is in I’m sure they’ll put him on that side for one of the units. I could see them putting Carlson in Ovechkin’s spot and having Chychrun up top, then maybe Sandin/Miro for the other unit.

I think im leaning to 1st line Mangi. He can handle 1st line min. Avs and Panthers are the next 2 games both are recent cup winners and have tons of talent everywhere. Might not be the time to test out 1st line Miro or Lappy.

Yeah I think that's a great idea. Mangiapane has played top 6 in Calgary and gotten results.

And that 3rd line has shown the least chemistry of the 4 this season so it minimises the disruption by changing personnel.

A bigger question is the first PP unit. Would love to see Chychrun in Ovie's spot.

I do like the chance we get now for Carbery to make a PP without Ovie. I hope he changes it up and doesnt just put diet Ovie in the office and runs the same system.

I might put Carlson in the office and Chychrun at point if we keep the powerplay the same. Carly always had a rocket shot. He won fastest shot at the all star game before.

AO has not been out much over the years but would be curious the PP success numbers while he was out.

Diet Ovie cracked me up!

I would like to see them reinvent the PP.
