Suzdalev reportedly going pro and that's going to put Hershey at around 20-eligible forwards. Something has to give. We have way too many forwards in Washington and in Hershey, with our top prospects having to either get top-nine minutes in WAS or HER. No way they are done.
The report doesn't make sense to me. The Capitals get to decide where Sudzy plays. They can assign him back to juniors if they want to.

For sure. But, if the Caps think he’s ready for the pro game (especially after his second development camp), he will be in Hershey. I’m assuming the reporting of him going pro is coming from the Caps? It’d only makes sense. Training camp will be key anyway and intentions could further change.

Patches and Backstrom are huge questions this season. Both are older players and have serious injuries most NHL players never come back from. Max isnt even skating and wont be ready until mid season at best. Its really hard to see them both adding much. I think the hope is Max will look good enough we can send him to a contender at the deadline.

My way to early deadline hopes

Mantha for a 2nd
Edmundson for a 2nd
Kuz for a 1st (not likely)
Max for a 2nd
Boyd for a 3rd

I don't see any of these players on the roster next season.

Now subtract 2 from each and see the real value (or should I say add). ;)

Boyd?

If Patches is healthy and productive he is probably the most coveted UFA winger at the deadline. If he’s back to some semblance of his normal self his contract is extremely valuable. The only thing that would limit his return is he controls where he goes but hopefully he’d work with the front office on that if push comes to shove.

This sounds like absolutely BS after the fact. Michkov said in May multiple times how great it’d be to be drafted by Washington and how it wouldn’t be up to him at the end of the day. On top of the fact that Ovi befriended him. The Caps were public about trying to move up after the draft and he’s the only one that would’ve made send to move up to (and all of the smoke was about WAS wanting MM). I think this is an agent covering his tracks and trying to leave no history of the fact - b/c of the rivalry - that his client indeed wanted Washington first, but ended up with his second choice (Philadelphia).

No prospect is going to shit on another team with a chance of drafting him.

Let's get over it.

I would again question that translation, literal vs intent.

"Now wanting to be" could be "Not intentionally setting things up to be", as some had suggested might be happening through the way he chose his interviews.

Quite honestly, the more I've thought about this deal, the more I think the bolded was an explicit agreement between Mac and Max. Basically, Pacioretty needs a paycheck, a chance to show he can still play, and a shot at the playoffs. So Mac is offering him that. If the Caps are good and Patches is a contributor, he stays for the playoffs then rides off into UFA next year. If the Caps are bad and Patches is a contributor, he gets traded to a contender at the deadline and then is either resigned or UFA. If he can't play, he's LTIR and done. Either way he's not in danger of getting traded to a shit team because why would a shit team bother? He's a deadline rental if that's what it comes to, and I suspect he's already basically agreed not to put up a fight as long as he gets a shot at a championship.

I don’t see any misunderstanding here….

“Yes, there was no desire to be in Arizona,” he continued. “There wasn’t at all. [Some kind of insider said], that it was deliberately started, that Matvei Michkov [wanted to go to] Washington. Matvei Michkov did not want to get into Washington. This desire was mutual.”

re: Michkov
the strange thing was him saying he really wanted the Flyers (not going to look up the quote but similar to that)

Does PHI have some great rep in Russia or something that we don't know about? Seems bizarre to tout PHI who seem destined for more suckage in the foreseeable future; is he a Torts fan? does he crave the Wiz Wit? inquiring minds...
