No chance we'd trade Lindgren. His contract and his contribution is too valuable. You could have Darcy though.

With where our team is currently at and projects to potentially be in a few years, it would make sense to trade Dowd if you could fetch something valuable. He's what 33? We probably won't really be competing for another 2 or so years. We'll have all that cap space, and will have to get some free agents who are close to worth their contracts.

It's imperative to keep Strome and Lindgren who punch above their contracts with production and probably will for forseeable future. I would like to see us trade Mantha if we can get a top 9 forward prospect or top 4 defense prospect or 1st round pick. Waive Kuzy, he's gone and he's not coming back (mentally). I'd like to trade Kuemper to anyone who would take him and not because he's atrocious, I actually think he's middle of the road, but to free up more cap. Trade Edmundson and TVR or Jensen and ride it out.

Some of these moves are more realistic than others but I think it would set the stage for us to have a very bright future.

Mantha on long term contract becomes untradeable probably

Mantha in 3-4 years when Caps could maybe compete will be hardly a guy who helps or looks like engaged player (kinda like Kuzy now, or even worse, probably)

That's speculation, but anyone here believes in better outcome?!

So he's not in Caps future. Should be traded at deadline and forgotten.

It's probably more an offseason move but I'd look at trading Carlson. He's 34 with a lot of miles on him and he's not nearly as effective as he once was (to be expected). And it's not like he's contributing to Ovie's goal chase any more.

If he nets a first round pick or better I think you have to pull the trigger.
Should have traded him a couple years ago.

They say Lindy cant handle the work load as #1. But we wont know until we gave him a chance.

Start him vs NYR today he owns them. Darcy doesnt even give us a chance today.
Everytime it looks like he's the guy he gets hurt. His durability is a serious problem if you're counting on him as the #1. He's been hurt 3-4 times and we're not quite halfway through the season.

Until Lindgren can prove to me he can stay healthy, then at best he's a platoon goalie. I don't see him right now being able to have more than 40 starts in a season.

Well they did start him again, but the offense failed to come through again. With Lindgren's back2games starts, the message has been sent to Kuemper to get his act together. We need 2 goalies to help this team stay in the playoff race.

Sean McIndoe's take on the Caps at the moment. At least we got the bolded part going for us.

4. Washington CapitalsThey’ve beaten the L.A. Kings, New York Rangers and Pittsburgh Penguins recently, and nobody else. Their goals differential is far worse than teams like the Ottawa Senators or Buffalo Sabres but they’re still sitting at a respectable .570 points percentage. Absolutely nobody thinks they’re making the playoffs, and rightly so because they’re not good. But their next four games are the Anaheim Ducks, St. Louis Blues, Blues again and the Minnesota Wild, so who knows? Add it all up and I’m pretty sure their recent 3-6-2 stretch spells the end of them, but who knows?

I cant argue that. Outside of making a bold move that sparks the team, this team is going to slowly fall out of the chase... just like last year. But that is to be expected. The roster had holes last year driven by an aging group that was often banged up... so how does GMBM fix it, brought in an aging forward coming off 2x Achilles tears and joe Edmundston. I was supportive of firing PL.. and I think Carberry has shown decently so far... but PL wasnt the biggest problem. So that's 2 years in a row GMBM scapegoated the entire roster construction on 2 discrete events. 2 years ago it was the goalies... fix the goalies and everything else will work. last year, it was the coach.... get a new coach and everything else will work. Nah, this roster is flawed at every single level.

Hey outside fan here inquiring on a trade proposal I was thinking off

Didnt want to go to main boards and get flamed. If deal doesnt work for Caps then better to let it die here

At 2024 draft.

John Carlson @7M (1M retention) to Toronto

John Tavares at 11M + 2025 3rd.

JT would be a 1 year contract

Value seems kinda equal on the surface - but aging, declining offensively productive D-man who are not fleet afoot and at best just OK at D are probably more valuable than aging, declining semi-productive forwards who are not fleet afoot and at best just OK at D. We already got Max P. and a slew of legacy old forwards, we don't need more. And the salary retention thing would have to be reversed: you take all Carlson $ plus retain $2 million of JT and we maybe think about it. But ultimately, we say no because we are already so . . . f***ing . . . old up front.

Any interest in Kuemper?

What exactly does your proposal do for the caps?
