I’m calling shenanigans.Washington Capitals
Prediction: Caps add at the trade deadline
Goaltending alone will likely keep the Capitals in the playoff hunt around the trade deadline. If they're close, GM Brian MacLellan will undoubtedly try to bolster the team in an effort to get Washington back to the playoffs after missing last season. They have draft capital to play with, having three second-round picks in 2025. Maybe it's a rental. Maybe someone with term. Undoubtedly it will be a forward, given their depth on the blue line.

Bold predictions for every NHL team: Matthews' goal total, Presidents' Trophy winners, playoff surprises
From star players traded, to surprising teams making the playoffs, to awards picks, here's one bold call for all 32 clubs in the second half.www.espn.com
It's probably more an offseason move but I'd look at trading Carlson. He's 34 with a lot of miles on him and he's not nearly as effective as he once was (to be expected). And it's not like he's contributing to Ovie's goal chase any more.
If he nets a first round pick or better I think you have to pull the trigger.
I think that any player on this roster should be available for a (potential) young high end center/top pairing defenseman or a draft pick in the top 5. Carlson is now in the same territory that Oshie was in 2-3 seasons ago. Still a valuable player but there are signs of inevitable demise everywhere you look. It's probably more an offseason move but I'd look at trading Carlson. It is, Joe b doesn't like it though apparently. lolI thought his nickname was chucky sideburns?
They don't even have the balls to trade Kuznetsov who requested a trade. They ain't gonna trade Carlson. It's probably more an offseason move but I'd look at trading Carlson. Of the players that have seen NHL ice this season, I don't see a single one that will be an indispensable member of the next successful core group. That means they are all available.
I know i get hate every time i suggest it but the third (McMichael) line is struggling a bit right now, so why not break it up. I’d like to see Protas at 1RW with OV and Strome.
The problem with a player like Dowd is that he is most valuable to teams that a) will be drafting late and b) have thin farm systems. Caps need foundational pieces and it's highly unlikely that they can that in a Dowd trade.I suppose he's not indispensable but I'd hesitate to shop Dylan Strome unless a fantastic offer came in. I could see him contributing as a high-end 2C for the duration of his contract and maybe the final year or two Washington can field a competitive roster if they play their cards right.
I truly do wonder what Nic Dowd could fetch at the TDL. Edmonton and Toronto both need bottom six centers and Dowd is one of the best options in the league. I wouldn't be shocked if he could fetch a first round pick given how good he is and his sweetheart contract. He's been a great contributor to the Capitals but again, by the time Washington is competitive again Dowd is likely to have fallen off quite a bit.
It helps immediately, because the minutes he gets would go to somebody that isn't him. There is no point in waiving Kuzy right now. We aren’t replacing him with anyone and we get nothing in return. If we can’t get a bag of pucks for him at the trade deadline, try again in the off season. At worst waive him before next season to make room for cap/prospect playing time. To waive him now doesn’t help this team now or tomorrow.
Points shmoints, what about good memories?Tom wilson with 1 point in his past 11 games. Is he becoming a Lucic?

If we ship Chuck Sideburns out, then we have given up on the season.Oilers fan coming in peace. With Bears arrival I wonder if one of your RD could shake loose. What would it cost to get a package of Jensen/TVR and Lindgren off the Caps? Would a mini rebuild with some futures be in the cards if the Caps miss playoffs this year?
Trying to gauge value here. And Oilers NEED to go All In in the McDavid era.
Lindgren
Jensen or TVR (your preference)
For
Ceci (included for Cap purposes and can be flipped for another pick)
Bourgault (2021 1st round pick)
Petrov (Russian skilled winger who tore up OHL scoring, maybe would fit well with Ovies mentorship?)
2024 2nd
2025 3rd
Thoughts?

IMHO, Caps would likely find value here.
