Why? See my linked post further up.
Man, I know they're going to do it but with the way he's been playing I just cannot see how you sit down Milano.

Course, they'll probably lose one of the kids instead to keep Milano and Eller.

As I said in my post if one of the IR guys can sit out until the playoffs when the roster expands they can probably keep Milano. Maybe Wilson just chills out for a bit and we're in much better shape...

Can't imagine letting Milano go anywhere, regardless of what is happening with the lineup. He's been one of our better players and he's practically playing for free.

I agree but I question whether the front office will have the stones to eject someone else to save him, if the cap crunch hits

It seems clear that Oshie has an impact on the team’s performance even if his individual performances haven’t been great. The rest of the team is going to have to dig deep and keep playing as well as they have with Oshie in the lineup and not fall into their aimless play that they had while Oshie was out earlier in the season. They can’t afford another skid like that. Too many teams ahead of them in the playoff race to be able to recover from that.

Oshie is the glue

Oshie really is the glue. We also know he is going to be regularly injured. I’ll still take it. He could go on LTIR to make roon for Backstrom at 5.7M. but i want oshie back and we’ll deal with shit then.

Oshie being out is going to really screw up the PP, a key to our recent success. That’s always where his absence is felt most on the ice (leadership intangibles aside). I hope they can work in some different looks with Sheary presumably taking over in the bumper. At least the schedule will be easing up a little.

There’s no way Milano is going anywhere. They finally found a guy that has chemistry with Kuzy, not named Ovi. Sonny has a skillset this team is lacking, and he can keep pace with Kuzy. Plus, his level of compete battling for pucks has been pleasantly surprising. Hopefully he keeps it up. I like Mantha on that line too - to balance defensively and extend possessions.

As far as the cap issues - the recent scuttlebutt makes it sound like they are more likely to Kucherov Willy, making the crunch less of an issue. I can’t believe that Backstrom is eyeing next month to return - that would be stunning in and of itself.

well, if they are going to kucherov willy, a move to LTIR would be nice…

They have maxed out LTIR which is why Wilson and others aren’t on it. It also means Oshie will go to IR only. When Backy comes back we can put one or both Wilson and Oshie and LTIR. If Oshie is out for a while they will put him there and bring up Wilson. No way he sits out until April.

If that writer is really in-the-know and Wilson is still experiencing pain and uncomfortable on the ice after skating then there's every reason to think he's going to be awhile and that the original expectations of December were greatly exaggerated considering we're rapidly approaching the end of December already.

didnt realize we maxed our LTIR but i guess having 12M on LTIR does that

If Oshie is going to miss time they could do worse than Smith, esp. if Wilson's going to be out perhaps much longer.

Bruins fans seem to think Smith fell off a cliff this season and is just about done. Would you put him in the top-6 as Oshie replacement?

Assuming Dowd is fine, I imagine they’ll keep NAK on the 4th line, and play Protas at 3RW. So Mantha stays in the top 6.

If NAK isn’t worth the spot, then move Protas back down, and give Snively some games on the 3rd line, before looking outside the org.
