Several Caps players mentioned in the most recent PDOcast. Praise for Jensen, Orlov and Fehérváry.

I really wonder what Jensen can get on the open market if he decides to bet on himself and go to the summer as UFA. Before this season he was incredibly under-the-radar but it seems like he’s getting more attention around the league now, so perhaps a big discount isn’t in the cards.

I still think it’s in Washington’s interest to sign Jensen even if it’s in the $5 million neighborhood. On top of his solid defense he has been adding more on the offensive side. The cap is going up and they don’t have RFAs that are due big raises. The money shouldn’t be an issue.

Especially if we can dump Carlson and make Orlov-Jensen the #1 pair. ;)

Depends on the term.

I don't want a 33-year old who relies on his skating on a long-term big money contract.

Jensen is a tough call.

The team obviously needs him and it's not as if a prospect is breathing down his neck, ready to take over the spot. On the other hand, Caps got amazing value out of the player. It might be the perfect time to cut ties before he turns into a pumpkin.

If the cap keeps going up it really shouldn’t be too much of a concern. And while he will be 33 soon he doesn’t have a ton of mileage at least at the NHL level and he’s never had a significant injury, so I’m less concerned about the wheels falling off.

Wonder who they send down? I hope it's CMC. I think Pilon is great as a 13th forward to probably contend with Aube-Kubel and just, based on his career so far, Milano is a better fit to getting 2nd and 3rd line minutes right now.

Pilon probably gets sent down. I recall liking NAK's energy in the past. He seems like the sort of player Lavi would play the shit out of.

I mean for what it's worth it's probably a great fit for Dowd and Hathaway's line.

Surprised Toronto gave up on him 10 games into the season though. They must have realized he just wasn't a good fit for them.

How does he fit the 4th line if he's a right handed right winger?

I don't like it. It's another guy who has shown limited upside and also takes dumb penalties.

He definitely seems like a Lavy guy because he Plays Hard. Which means less time for CMM/Protas/Snively. I highly doubt Aube-Kubel is just an insurance option.

I like NAC. Terrible hands but this team needs someone who has a pulse with Wilson out. I can see him fitting well with 26 and 21.

Enough with the grinders and plodders. Unless the player is above average at creating offense and scoring goals I’m not interested.

When I think of the Washington Capitals it was always hard work and grinding until 2008-present. A lot of us were perfectly happy with those hard working guys if they played a full game and worked hard. I understand what you mean though and a full grinding lineup don't win the ultimate prize without contributions from big names producing in the playoffs like in 2018. It was always frustrating to get fringe replacements under GMGM too. My fear is a shake up trade that is made to save the GM's job. Those are typically the worst kind of deals.

If they want to become competitive again, CMM++ for Patty Kane with an extension in place.
It will probably take a lot of ++. It would be nice to know if the Cap's are in on rumors though.

MD/VA/WV intersection
essentially shores up the 4th line on the cheap, assuming they use him on 4LW

frees up Snively et al to be placed more properly in middle 6

for now it'll do until they figure out a Top-6 option or timelines on Oshie/Wilson (Wilson hits 6 months post surgery around Thanksgiving, which is generally the point of poss return from ACL)

he played 6 games for us and didn't show much offensively with 0 pts playing 9min/night

he is listed at 6' 207, and does hit but he we have ZAR already who does the same thing and more

good luck with him
