Mcm, snively, malenstyn, does it really matter? None of them are secondary scoring help on a level that matters. Caps never trade for anyone so this is going to be bend don't break until the old guys heal up. Imo none of the prospects or extra forwards are impressive so throw a dart at the wall or just play which ever one doesn't get scored on a lot

Wonder what the Caps wll do. Playoff are in no way a guarantee. Espescially with all the injuries. Carolina looks better. So far Devils have looked very good, but they could fall to weak goaltending. I expect Rangers to finish ahead of us. Then a suprisingly strong start from Flyers. The Isles and Penguins are also teams that can very well finish ahead of us. Only Columbus that looks certain to finish behind in division.

If they start to fall off in the race for playoffs then they should look to trade for futures.

Eller 50% (Still a quite solid center and has a decent reputation. Hasnt been the Caps problem so far). Should be a valuable piece for a team in need of center depth and teams always need that as injuries starts.

Sheary 50% (Cheap winger with a scorng touch)

Strome 50% (Quite young still. Caps might want to keep him)

Mantha 50% (Should be worth a lot two playoffs at 2,85)

Oshie 50% (Getting older, but if healthy he is a playoff warrior and for 2,9 he is not that big a risk for a team in need of a scoring winger)

Then what about Orlov and Jensen? They shouldnt be locked down longer than Ovi's contract so if there is problems with negotations with one of them they should probably be moved and both would be some of the best defencemen available at the TDL in that case. Would prefer Carlson out, but its very unlikely to happen.

If thats the plan to bottom out and buy draft lottery tickets. Thats fine but you cant do it half assed. Have to trade everyone like GMGM did with Bondra Jagr Gonchar and Oates

They are certainly hanging on but long-term is this team good enough as-is? Hard to see. I don't think many teams around the league could withstand these kinds of injuries. Best-case scenario is that through team defense and Kuemper they'll hold on close to a Playoff spot until Wilson is back. It's still asking a lot from our goalies.

As for the never-ending CMM discussion just send him down and play Snively. His confidence is shot and playing shift or two in a period isn't the way to gain it back. I liked him aggressively going to the net but other than that he seems really nervous out there. His development has gone sideways and it’s time for the coach and GM to get in same space on that matter. Atleast even a short AHL stint would give him a much-needed reset and there are things to learn from there too.

I see Capitals as a bubble team this year. If they manage to make it into playoffs this year I'm very confident it will be a 1st round exit. It will be a tough ask because longer we go into season the more demanding it will be from our extremely old team. They did upgrade in the net, but everywhere else they have either stalled or degraded. And now with new and expected injuries we will be overplaying our top guys again, just like last year. Until they gas out.

I feel like we could be slightly better than a bubble-team if we were healthy. But now that both Oshie and Brown are likely out long-term it's asking too much from Ovechkin, Kuznetsov, the defense and our goalies in the long run. It would be a huge accomplishment to even make it to the Playoffs with all these injuries.

Also you can only have 3 contracts with retained salary, so you can't 50% off every guy in a trade. But pick 3!

that's at least two games now away from Carlson where Fehervary has been the Capitals' most valuable defensive presence

so for the meantime, uh.... neener neeners

I will be thrilled if Fehervary was only being dragged down by Carlson and that a new partner is all that it takes to get him being a legit top 4 defensive player.

This follows a trend for Fehervary this season: excellent defensive results:

The offensive impact isn’t there this season but the defense has improved significantly. I think the jury is still out because 10 games is still a small sample, but so far so good. Hard to ask more of him defensively. Hopefully he can add some more offensive elements to his game as he gets more comfortable.

They play a rested Vegas team tonight, so this has all the makings of a schedule loss.

They’ll need another stout defensive effort like last night, and I’m sure Lindgren will be called on to make some timely saves. It’s hard to imagine them winning the possession battle against the Stephenson-Eichel-Stone line, but they need to win against the other 3 lines. Washington has a distinct advantage in the bottom 6 especially.

That’s really your view? Because their plan doesn’t match up with what you like, or you can’t comprehend what they are doing, they have no plan? Oh brother….
Oh come off it. What's even the point of having a forum if literally any question or debate on what the front office or coaching staff is doing comes back with ridiculous responses like this? Are we just supposed to clap our hands and say the chants?

Oh Brother.

Sorry we are here “debating”. Sometimes you have to accept there are things you aren’t aware of, and just because your brain or my brain can’t see it, doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.

or…you can just keep on complaining, but that’s not questioning or debating, it’s just…..you know, complaining, and that stuff…..is tiresome a **** around these boards.

Devils advocate…whatever one chooses to call it, “complaining”, “debating”, “providing one’s insight or opinion”…they are all literally the point of a message board.

And when 90% of the discussion is the same exact whining over and over you don't have much of a forum.

If CMM has no value to us, he should be moved to get something that will help us. We have an aging core, and just signed a $5m goaltender. Clearly a win now situation.

The asset management is questionable at best.

But the Board’s other discussion points are not the (essentially) same mantra about one guy over and over and over and over…..then it’s not any those things you call it above, it’s just obsessive whining.

Excessive whining doesn‘t make for a great experience here is all….IMO. Last year it was Hagelin.

Like I said before, I’m not trying to stifle conversation but if people want to keep bitching, expect a little pushback at times. human nature thing….

Along those lines: When multiple threads--including *every* game-day thread--is shit up with the exact same repetitive argument, (in which the same non-evolving positions are stated over and over again, often in a hostile manner, by the same posters), and it makes those threads unreadable for anyone who can no longer put up with the incessant CMM-related bleating, and it causes some long-time quality posters to stop posting because it's too goddamn much (as has been confirmed to be the case already), yeah, you're actively *discouraging* discussion, not contributing to it.

Perhaps we'd all be better off with creating an all-purpose CMM-related thread where everyone who cares to have that discussion can happily do until either 1) CMM gets more regular playing time or b) our universe is devoured by a black hole. Whichever comes first.

Well he's still only 21. Not many good 21 year olds in this league.

I wish McMichael was getting more playing time either here or in Hershey, but people panicking like his career is over are ridiculous.

And haven't the Caps given away enough young players for nothing? f*** that.

I’m going to give my last thoughts on this. Send him to Hershey and let him develop if he isn’t good enough to play on the roster. Fin.

That all being said, with Brown out for the season, Oshie out indefinitely, they need help. What is BMac going to do for his next trick?
