Their new depth allows them to do it.

I know people aren’t happy w a Dillon/Schultz possibly pairing, but I’m good w it.

Orlov/Carlson
Chara/Jensen
Dillon/Schultz
Siegenthaler/TVR

we know the top pair will play 24m a night. So the next 2 just need to be in the 18m range each.

good good
I'm with you.

People forget how bad our team looked with TR, especially on an individual player-to-player level. I think a veteran coach like Lavi is the type of coach to lift the average performance level of players, or at worst, not make it any worse. I think that a lot of our players will look a loooooot better this year than they did last year, especially in the bubble.

I like Dillon-Schultz as a pair. Evolving Hockey has Dillon in the 89th percentile defensively. They’ve rated him the second best defensively out of the defensemen on the team behind Jensen. Fingers crossed he’s the perfect compliment to Schultz’s game.

Regarding Lundqvist's contract - if he goes on LTIR, the Caps will be able to spend that much more, no? If they terminate the contract, they don't get that money.

I have no idea if any of that makes any sense.

Well, I don't know jack about the CBA, but from what Friedman was saying on the podcast, the termination, if mutual, would get them the cap space back vs. LTIR where they can spend it but are technically over.

how so? that i said what i did about Hagelin? That I dont deny it? That I am not convinced the lines on the first day of camp are the coming game lineup?
Just how you pretend to know stuff.

I don't think even Laviolette is as confident about lines as you are. There's been no training camp and no games yet. Hagelins position is a complete unknown and to insist he has a spot locked up is beyond silly.

The only almost sure spots on this team is Ovechkin at 1LW.

Ok...then dont listen to me. I dont pretend anything. Maybe i should write better so that you understand better what I am saying. So....did i just criticize myself or you?

I dont get caught up in love or hate for a player as a rule. I analyze what I see done and hear what is said. Do you think its likely that Dillon would be on the 3rd pair? I think that would be a terrible mess. We have a suggestion here that might happen. I would say it wont.

Well, if you mean “a suggestion” on Dillon meaning my take on this, I wouldn’t go that far.

I believe that Orlov-Carlson.....if paired together....would carry a massive load.

I think they will then use the remaining 4 starters in similar minutes. Obviously 1-3 min can separate them, and situational moments will cause some varying degrees of overlap.

I look at is this way:
Carlson @ 24-25min (24.5)
Orlov @ 22-23min (22.5)
Dillon @ 20-21min (20.5)
Schultz @ 18-19min (18.5)
Jensen @ 17-18min (17.5)
Chara @ 15-16min (15.5)

so that’s 116-122. Middle it and it’s 119. Need to find 1 more min for the group.

That all seems pretty likely and I’d even go as far as saying it’s preferable?

Factor in OV taking about 4min/gm PPTOI at left point and it's around 116min. ttl for the D-core

I don’t think it would be helpful to mutually terminate because they still wouldn’t be able to bank space with Kempny on LTIR.
