txpd will not be happy with Hagelin on the 4th lol

wait until he’s waived for cap purposes during the season lol....

anyone claiming him, Panik, or Jensen if they decided to play the cap games that people are suggesting will occur this year?

Not bothered by that at all. Panik and Sheary are effectively in tryout mode. Hagelin is a known quantity

ummm you have been adamant that Hagelin will not be the 4th line left wing and have questioned anyone who has suggested that he could be.

Caps are going into the season with some redundant players and contracts. Would not be surprised at all to see a couple of them moved at some point, for cap relief and to remove some of the glut: Jensen/Hags/Panik/Kemps(if and when fully healthy).

Yes. I remain confident that Hagelin will be on the 3rd line. He not being there while they are trying to sort out Sheary and Panik doesnt shock me. Are you think that is the opening night lineup? You think that is the healthy 20 games lineup? I expect some movement.

If I am wrong, I am wrong.

The redundancy very likely is the plan born out of the covid situation.

Fair point, but, I still see them making at least one or two moves leading up to and at the TDL this year and I imagine that with cap crunch, NHL bodies will have to be moved out.

They literally have zero cap space. They're eating into $3.6M of the $4M in cap space provided by Kempny and Lundqvist's LTIR. You cannot bank LTIR exemption space. Only way to add is by subtracting or if someone else goes on LTIR.
I thought Lundy and the Caps terminated his contract. No LTIR. Is that wrong?

Yes I do think there is a decent chance he ends up as the 3rd line LW but there is also a chance he is on the 4th.

I’m more highlighting the fact that you thought the chances of this happening were 0 but obviously that isn’t the case.

ok. and?

Orlov-Carlson full-time could be one of the best and most dominant pairings in the NHL - eye test, analytically, statistically, etc., they've been on another level when paired together. Whatever you want to call it, it could be awesome and successful, especially with a coach like Lavi.

Yes, dynamic. Orlov is dynamic and Carlson effective without notice. Do you want this pair as your matchup with the opposing 1st line? Do you want them with offensive players?

My problem here is that this pair is the only pair that can be a shutdown pair. They are also the best offensive pair. One of those assignments is going to suffer because of the other one
You don’t think Chara/Jensen can be a shut down pair? I do —

is it hockey time yet? DROP THE PUCK ALREADY!

I might be in the minority, but I think playing the same teams over and over again will be fun. They are gonna start hating each other so much.

Their new depth allows them to do it.

I know people aren’t happy w a Dillon/Schultz possibly pairing, but I’m good w it.

Orlov/Carlson
Chara/Jensen
Dillon/Schultz
Siegenthaler/TVR

we know the top pair will play 24m a night. So the next 2 just need to be in the 18m range each.

good good

This so much.

I guess it sucks that we won't see stars from the other teams, but these are the teams I want to beat down to mush. Besides Buffalo, but even they got a team now. And I expect they feel the same way.
