I guess this is the line that threw me. It's not early if his game has actually slipped, unless the quotes are meant to be sarcastic but that almost makes less sense.

I guess it depends on what "slipped" is in your book. I expect him to slip age 35-40 gradually. I don't expect him to be totally ineffective and therefor not "NHL caliber" in those years, but he may be struggling for 15g his last year.....never know.

So yeah unless he throws in the towel on the record chase, I only see him playing any "meaningful" games as you call them for Dynamo, after he's 40.

He’ll re-sign for four years, so his contract expires simultaneously with Backstrom’s. If he’s still elite or has a legit shot at 895, then I bet he goes year-to-year.

Don’t we still have the agreement where NHL and KHL cannot sign each other contract bound players?

It’s not really my book that matters, it’s his. I’d probably take more veteran checking line Ovechkin than he’d ever be willing to give.

I think it will take Ovy 6 to 7 more seasons to break 894. Hoping no more than 6, but with interruptions to seasons and injuries that are bound to happen as he gets older? 6 may be generous.

Ive said this many times including this thread. I see him signing a 5 year. Not 4 +. Not sure where 6 or 7 came from.

A 5 year deal gives him 6 season to get to 900. If he can average 45 goals the next 2 seasons, he need average only 26 for the next 4, I see no reason to play 7 years unless the league isnt playing

It needed more fine tuning but that's not really the worst in red white and blue.

That said, it was the eagle and template I didn't like from the mockup so, still remains to be seen if I'll like these.

I didnt object to it with the screaming eagle. What I objected to then was that weak ass Wizards blue they insisted on. Not the logo itself. When they put the Jolly Roger on the black jersey, I objected for a couple of reasons. At the time EVERYBODY was doing a black jersey because but Pens, Steelers, Raiders. It was trendy. It wasnt the Caps. The Jolly Roger said pirates/outlaws to me and again that doesnt say Caps. If the Caps are a black hat team its because of their style of play, Tom Wilson, but the image of the franchise is American red white and blue.

This doesnt say Team Canada to me. I see them and I am asking what team that is.

I didn't like the screaming eagle because nothing about it said Capitals to me. The blue/gold also was an awful attempt at a re-brand. All in all I thought that sweater combo was just the worst. The jolly roger (as were calling it) and weagle are much better because they easily tie into the Washington Capitals. The weagle is by far the best because its much cleaner, but they are both better than the screaming eagle. The black third jerseys were better because the logo and the black softened the bad color scheme IMO.

We can complain about the current road whites as the worst of the current sweaters, but it is still better than anything 95-06'. And if you want to make a jersey off that time period, keep it red/white and put the jolly roger on the chest.

The blue and gold was Abe Pollin tying his secondary team to his primary team who was suffering thru a hideous rebrand. That color package was about as undynamic as you get. To drag the hockey team thru it too was stupid.

The black jersey as a 3rd I didnt like but wouldnt complain about it. I believe that you should be able to walk into a home arena and know who the home team is. When the Thrashers welcomed fans into "Blue land" and both teams were wearing red, I call that a fail. My issue with the black was when they ditched the blue home screaming eagle and made the black their primary home uni.

Reminder that the current whites are road unis. The red is the home....rock the red and all. A secondary Weagle based would make a lot of sense
