I know it’s probably not the best and we need to clean up some of the sloppiness but it kind of gives me the warm fuzzies to win games like that early in the season even when we’re clearly not playing up to full potential.

Turbo is getting kind of concerning though. He’s never been the fastest skater but it definitely seems like he’s lost some speed on those first few steps and he’s just had no acceleration at all.

He plays like he's squeezing a loaf.

Honestly, if he ended up one goal short because of a career ending injury I WOULD FIND IT MADDENINGLY HILLARIOUS.
Eh, so be it. He will probably hit it and if he wants to play long enough he could hit 1000. I can separate the sport from other stuff. I get it if others can't.

Thoughts on Noesen?

Why is he getting so much PP time?

Is he likely to stay in lineup when all forwards are healthy?
This is actually an interesting question. When Pacioretty is healthy, logic would dictate Noesen is the odd man out, and Noesen then bumps Stastny off PP2. But does Pacioretty or Svech play net front in that scenario?

If not, do they consider moving Svech to PP2?

Given the roles and production, I would think Patches starts on PP2 and Noesen is safe on PP1 to start.

I get that (in theory) these guys know more about the PK when I do, but with the talent the Caps have out, why the hell is someone not stapled to Ovi’s hip the entire time he is out on the PP??

Make the other 4 (less insane goal scorers) beat you.

Assuming that was a feasible play (there's a reason OV has done this to literally every team), you'd essentially turn a 5-on-4 PK into a 4-on-3 PK, which statistically has a higher chance of being scored on anyway. So you're just actively hurting your chances of a successful PK by "stapling a guy to OV's hip."

"A turtle would come in with more speed than Kuznetsov" is an all time Trippism.
He has a point though.

I agree when he said that's the slowest he's ever seen someone move in a shootout. It was kind of crazy. Naturally our goalie got scored on from it. At least Andersen stopped Ovi.

Not to be a party pooper.
I call it like I see it. We are squeakign out wins against marginal teams. We're banking points, when we need them, bu this is not a playoff caliber team.

I'm also concerned when patches comes back, that he maybe isn't going to be what we think. I'm still not happy with Burns, and think we should have kept at least one of TDA and Nino. Both were VERY available, especially TDA, and instead we wasted time and space on Bear.

I feel like we were a much better team last year, and this lingering bullshit with the PP is just tiresome. I'm to the point I WANT it to cost them, painfully, glaringly so they HAVE to fix it. But they refuse. Even after it cost us the playoffs, they refuse.

I was just poking fun at your "Not to be a part pooper" in the last GDT, when being a party pooper is exactly what you wanted to do.

I'm also concerned when patches comes back, that he maybe isn't going to be what we think. I'm still not happy with Burns, and think we should have kept at least one of TDA and Nino. Both were VERY available, especially TDA, and instead we wasted time and space on Bear.

But our PP failed in the playoffs with your TDA and was ineffective the 2nd half of last season as well. In the last half of the season (40 games feb 1st - end of the season, we were an 18.5% PP team) and 13% in the playoffs. So you are suggesting that we should keep the same personnel that failed in the prior season?

If it was easy to fix, they clearly would. It failed in the playoffs with Hamilton, it failed in the playoffs with TDA and Trocheck (and was bad with those two the 2nd half of last season). , and it's struggling now.

Nobody is happy with the PP, but IMO the top PP teams depends a lot on having very high end skill. We don't have that, not for not trying, but because we haven't been in a spot to acquire a MacKinnon, Makar, Crosby, Malkin, Ovechkin, Matthews, Hedman, Stamkos, etc.. etc.

I'd like to see what STL has done on the PP the last 3 seasons because they've been a good PP team for 3 years without the very high end skill players. I haven't watched them enough to know.
