Post-Game Talk: Capitals @ Rangers 3/24/13

Newbury was a better center than Richards that's not a good thing . He played well would like to have seen him more . He was physical

Again.

There seems to be a pattern, here.

Yeah, a vocal minority of the fan base is overly critical and rationalize with everything. Who's the shootout stud we didn't throw in there? And I guess the decision to go with Step should be ignored because it worked, right?

boucher might not be the answer, but hell just pick someone out of the stands. We'd have the same chance of winning games.

Perfect, Ron calling out Torts with a forced smile at the end. Let's get Ron ****ing Duguay to coach this team.

Effort was there, coaching lost this game. I'll post it here.

1) Richards over Gaborik?
2) Kreider our best player, gets no ice time in OT.
3) 4th line saves this team from a devastating loss, barely sees the ice for the rest of the game. Also only line that could muster a goal 5 on 5.
4) Eminger? Why so much ice time for Eminger? Constant giveaways. 4 or 5 blatant ones tonight. Yet he is out there for the last shift of the game and the 1st shift of the OT.

Don't forget having Richards pulling his pus in the last min while Hank was being shelled.

not sure if serious...

Serious. It's obivous this team isn't going anywhere with Dumb and Dumber behind the bench, so improving the team by trading for a star just extends the reign of error. If the team had another decent center like Anisimov, they could do something about Richards. Erixon is a far better option than the gong show crew that have held down the #6D spot this year. And the Rangers have given up what is certainly a chance for the 1st overall and will likely be a top ten pick.

People ***** about Tortorella and his in-game strategies, or lack thereof...

Watch Lightning games the past two years. The 1-3-1 was a gimmick that was caught on.

Thank you. Finally someone who actually watched him coach instead of just looking at the stats Godkos puts up.

a minority of the fan base? every Ranger fan I know hates Torts.

Thats ridiculous. A good captain doesnt show anger to the media.

What does showing anger or emotion in an interview have to do with being a good captain?

There is nothing wrong with showing emotion. Personally, I like it when the athletes do. It shows you how emotionally invested they are in the team and competition.

It doesn't make Callahan any less or any better of a captain to be robotic in his interviews. Personally, I'd like to see him a little more passionate in the post game interviews.

Nothing phases Cally.

Interviewer: "Ryan y'all just lost 8-1 in a game you needed to win to make the playoffs. How do you feel about that?"

Ryan: "You know, you win some and you lose some. Team needs to just get over this."

----

Interviewer: "Ryan, Henrik just announced he wants to be traded from the Rangers. Your thoughts?"

Ryan: "You know, Henrik was a great player for us. Team needs to just get over this."

---

Interviewer: "Ryan, the Rangers were just relegated out of the NHL. How does that feel?"

Ryan: "You know, I didn't even know this was possible. Team needs to just get over this."

Its so easy to point out torts just isn't cutting it but I don't know of better options.

I am going to guess he wanted Richards to win it in the shootout to actually get his confidence up and put a smile on his face but he screwed up as per usual

they are so lucky they have the buyout in their pocket

Picking Stepan to go #3 isn't exactly a hard choice to make.

Hagelin, Kreider, and Gaborik ALL should have had chances to go before Richards, who has PROVEN he is no longer a viable shootout option. He is 1/11 in the shootouts as a Ranger.

How long will that take, cally? The season is almost over.

Anisimov and Dubinsky have as many goals as Nash combined (I think even 1 less).. and I can guarantee you I dont care how deep this draft is, the Rangers would not draft anyone as good as Rick Nash.
