Sure, but it still tops out as a just slightly better than average movie for me…I was entertained…..and that’s enough, but I don‘t see much of a reason to ever rewatch it….
I'd have said 8 to 8.5, but that's as someone who really dug in first time around because I liked the hook.

Hijack on Apple TV with Idris Elba was really good. Recently wrapped, only 7 episodes, definitely worth a watch.
Argh still need to finish that.
I’ve been waiting for all episodes to release..looks good.
This. I'll be honest I am generally just going to wait till all the episodes are available. I have occasionally compromised on some of the netflix foreign series that will drop tow episodes at a time.

Terrible. Started off so promising. Jumped the shark about midway and then SUCKED by the end. Such a waste of a great star and huge missed opportunity.

Hijack - wife and I are about 4 episodes in. its okay, decent .. its content. It checks all the boxes for my wife, she loves the drama crime shows.

------------------

People Under the Stairs - I cant find this movie anywhere. I pay for every streaming thing and nothing. Public library? nothing in the entire Howard County system. Wife still pays Netflixs for the dvds to be m,ailed to you? not on there.

Its a Wes Craven 90s cult flick .. how is it invisible.

Im going to pay the $4 to rent it from Amazon but I almost dont want to give up "the search". This is starting to become a thing.

Generally always been a Lynch fan but some of movies not a huge fan of. Blue Velvet and Wild at Heart I've always liked.
I'm a Lynch fan. Especially his more surrealist stuff exploring traumatized people escaping into dreams/fantasies. (Lost Highway, Mulholland Drive, Twin Peaks + FWWM.) Which makes it ridiculous that I still haven't gotten around to watching Inland Empire yet.

I often refer to Lost Highway as my #1 movie that everyone hates (including many Lynch fans) but I'll always go to bat for. Because--despite its many faults (I don't even think it's actually a "good" movie)--I like how it handles its subject matter, including the lack of any clear explanation as to what the hell is going on (even though the general concept is *relatively* simple and makes plenty of sense once you dig deep enough). By comparison, Mulholland Drive--which covers a lot of the same territory, but is widely acknowledged as a much better film than LH--has a tacked-on ending that's basically like, "Okay, here's what actually happened, hope that clears everything up." (This is due to the movie originally being written as a tv pilot that didn't get picked up, so the ending was added to make it work as a feature film.)

I also love Twin Peaks (despite its flaws). In particular, I love how S3 really upended a lot of what had been established/accepted/discussed in the first two seasons and film 25 years earlier.

Basically, I really like Lynch, the weirder the better, and I can forgive his excesses because they're exactly the kind of excesses I enjoy.

Talk To Me is legit; easily the best horror movie of the year! The other trailers I'll give a go.
After seeing it in theaters, I found my optimism for that one was misplaced. It's not bad, just forgettable. One of A24's lesser works. Oujia Board movie with a kludgy and inelegant addiction subtext.

On another topic -
Finally saw Renfield. Really enjoyed myself throughout. Delivers exactly what it promised. Plot was pretty straightforward and obvious, but the movie was a whole lot of fun. Kind of like if From Dusk til Dawn and Hot Fuzz had a baby.

I've been listening to the audiobook version of Dan Simmons' 2007 horror novel The Terror (based on the 1840s lost expedition to locate the Northwest Passage in the Arctic). AMC aired a television adaptation of the book in 2018, which I absolutely loved (outside of the terrible-looking CGI monster). So it's not exactly new, but it's an extremely good character-based, atmospheric, historical-fiction, supernatural horror show for anyone who's into that kind of thing.

Need to put on an eyepatch and a parrot on your shoulder to find People Under The Stairs.

Caveat - I really enjoyed this. There is a real sense of dread and unpredictability about it.

The Terror - this was awesome and I am going to rewatch it at some point.

The Knick - this was a really good series but is pretty obscure, I think?? Clive Owen as a surgeon in NY at the turn of the century.

I thought The Knick was solid.

I hope you didn't waste your 4 bucks on People Under The Stairs! I tracked down a copy and gave up 25 minutes in. What a load of crap.

I remembered this movie as being good and quite scary but it just occurred to me I believe the movie I'm thinking of is Bad Ronald, which is a 1974 horror movie. I'll have to track that one down.

Aww man .. its a good 90's fun jump scare scary movie. Kids in the walls, dad running around in his leather BDSM suit, mom in her "i just baked an apple pie, f*** me in the kitchen" 50s house dress.

The parent characters rock.

Its a caricature movie imo, everything is exaggerated.

Battle Royale - 6/10, Korean version of Hunger Games meets Squid Games. Tarantino's favorite movie ... was okay. 39 or so students get taken to an island and have to kill each other until only 1 is left.

Vengeance - BJ Novak's director debut? Huh, thought he did a few films before this. It was okay. Reporter who barely knows a girl who died pretends to be her boyfriend, gets sucked into a whodunit of sorts.

The King - Timothe Chamalet, Robert Pattinson goes all in on doing a french accent. Nothing special or unique. So unremarkable that i think Ive seen this before but i cant remember. Fine period piece movie, costumes and scenes were well done, lots of mud like any good medieval movie

Big Ed and Nadine Hurley! The Twin Peaks chemistry between those two really carried over to this movie. (Also, behind all the scares and laughs, this movie has a lot of great social/economic commentary.)
