It's always possible.

Twisted Metal has zero right to be as good as it is. Great blend of humor stuff and the serious, plus great world building.
I watched 5 episodes in the 1st sitting. Im going to finish it next time I put it on.

I think the thing I'm loving most is the way they execute the humor. It's not quite as forced as the sort of Marvel style quipping, it's pretty organic and I find myself mentally expecting the beats, not because of formula but because they're deserved character moments. Occasionally getting distracted by the mundane revelations in bigger moments is also my favorite trope, so that helps.

One or two of them have been predictable and less good but for the most part it's chemistry and some unexpectedly great moments.

It’s mostly pretty dry and some awkward humor…..it’s working, but still feels like a show based on a video game to me. It’s not so good that it’s shaken that feel, but it’s hard to do. Enjoying it so far, 5 episodes in.

Just my opinion but watching the Twisted Metal TV show and expecting it not to feel like a game adaptation is a strange choice. That's kind of where I set my bar, so yeah, it's not phenomenally high brow but for the "expected" output it's got a lot more charm and direct plot/pace than I would have hoped.

Saw Talk to Me tonight.

Calling it bad would neither be fair nor accurate. But I'm definitely disappointed.
It's probably my fault for seeing A24 and positive reviews and getting excited. In retrospect, it's exactly what the trailer shows (and if it weren't for the A24 in the trailer, I wouldn't have paid this movie any attention). It's essentially just a glorified Ouija Board trope. Most of the "twists" (if you can even call them that) you can see coming from a mile away.

I wouldn't suggest seeing it in theaters, but it could be worth catching on streaming if you're in the horror mood come October. There's a few cool moments.

I dont play video games but 2 of my favorite shows this year have been based of games. Last of us and Twisted Metal both are great.

As someone who didn’t play those games either, TLOU didn’t feel like your typical show based on one, and that’s impressive for me as a viewer. Twisted Metal does, but it still works.

I don’t love the actress playing Quiet….I will say that.

Horror movies .. there seems to be more swings and misses in this category but we still go back to the well. A24 has a decent catalogue of foreign indie movies.

Watched Know What You Did Last Summer with my daughter last night and it played its part .. dumb teen slasher 90s movie.

People Under the Stairs -- really want my daughter to see that but its not streaming anywhere and my county library doesnt have a copy in their entire system.

- Quarantine, 28 Days Later are some good outbreak, jump-scare scary movies. yall ahve def seen 28 days but Quarantine in the right setting (dark room, in the mood for scary movie) hits.

--------------

Kingdom - from 2007, Jamie Fox, never seen it, it was good decent. Kept a good pace.

-------

Harold and Maude - finally got around to seeing it. It was good, I liked the feel.

If you liked quarantine then watch REC. Found footage genre has always been a favorite of mine if executed correctly. Those two and 28 days/weeks later put walking dead to shame, and are all the more thrilling. No one is surviving with infected that sprint at you

Edit: I also really liked train to busan

I watched "My Heart Can't Beat Unless You Tell It To".

Thanks for recommending the most depressing f***ing movie I've seen in a long time

It can be depressing, but it's one of those movies that's going to stick in the back of your mind for a little while. You're gonna be thinking about that movie randomly for the next several days. It's a horror movie with zero jumpscares, you just pick up the actual horror of the situation they're in, the sacrifices they make, and how their actions hurt each other.

That's how I felt when I watched Tusk

Guardians galaxy 3 .. man that disappointed hard.

The writing/plot was tedious. The music played too long in parts and was forced half the time. Only genuine organic funny Vol 1 type humor was a couple of moments that they showed in the trailers.

Disappointed.

After all this time, I finally started watching the Wire. Almost through season 3. Liked it a lot so far. Some really cool and complex characters.
Watched it in full for the first time two years ago. I had started it before but never binged it all the way through. It’s terrific. Season 5 is meh but the ending is still good. I think Season 3 is with Hamsterdam, right? Season 4 might be the best single season of TV I’ve ever seen if I recall correctly so you’re in for a treat. My personal rankings of The Wire, from worst to first:

5. Season 5
4. Season 1
3. Season 2
2. Season 3
1. Season 4

I liked Season 2 a lot though I get why some people think it doesn’t fit. It’s pretty wild how the writers managed to make the show better and better as it goes on while a lot of shows tend to fall off.

I've been wanting to watch the wire for a while now, just on the fence about paying for yet another streaming service
