NOT a fan of Joel going all creepy at the end….very psycho-ish.

PERFECT casting of the mother…..exactly the actress I was thinking….

I know a lot of us are older, so we probably saw the old movies in the 90s. How cool is it that 2 actors from Encino man won best actor Oscar’s tonight.

Just binged Vox Machina.

God damn. So much like my dreams.

Was not surprised the animator worked on Liquid Television (and Metalocalypse) as I almost immediately started thinking of Aeon Flux during some of the battle scenes.

Where else can you see a tortured gothic elflord sprint with a magical nymphomaniac dwarf straight up an acid dragon's ass?

TLOU last ep - loved the series, last ep seemed incomplete .. Joels character arc was a good bit inconsistent .. I imagine the show makers were hand cuffed by the video game plot.

Ant Man 3 - was pretty good, didnt suck. It was 2 hours of green screen but it was paced well.

Harry Met Sally - nice couch classic romcom movie with the lady while cleaning doing things around the house

Mandelorian - entertaining, not the biggest Mando fan but its a solid show

13 Assassins - modern Takashi Miike one. Really good throwback samurai feel, Takashi Miike so it has zero mercy or holding back

TLOU got to binge the last 4 episodes. Solid. Didn't feel like a must see show for me but solid. Got a bit of The Professional vibes when Joel started trolling through the Fireflys. One thing I wasn't sure if Ellie knew that the surgery would be the end or not.

She wasn't told that the surgery would kill her. Marlene didn't want to scare her. Moreover, neither Joel nor Marlene wanted to actually ask Ellie outright what her decision would be, since they were both terrified that her answer would be the opposite of what they wanted. Ellie's agency is stripped from her in that moment, and it's part of the moral conundrum of the climax. We know, in some part due to her conversations with Joel afterwards, that she wouldn't want Joel to do what he did. But Joel then builds up a lie around his choices to try and keep Ellie from ever going down that path again (dozens of others like her, gave up looking for cure, killing Marlene so she wouldn't look for Ellie).

This isn't really the thread for this, but there kind of isn't one:

Anybody listen to King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard? Loving the album I found

I'm aware of them, but have not fully invested in listening to them. What I will say is that they are very prolific in terms of their album releases (they put out five full length albums in 2022 alone), and vary their style frequently between releases.

Gizz are all over the place, from psychedelic stuff like that to prog to thrash to an entire album that's an ode to Ennio Morricone and Red Dead Redemption. If one of their albums doesn't hit the mark for you just wait a couple months and they'll probably have a new one out - they've done 15 total in the last 6 years. It's a little intimidating to get into them because they've got so much material, but there's some pretty intricate flow charts out there to figure out what you'll probably like from them.

Personally I really love their heavier stuff. Gaia's one I keep coming back to.

The intro to that album is amazing so it’s on my list. I really don’t think I can overstate how different and interesting they are to me

Don’t get me wrong, you can totally hear patterns and favorite chords/notes throughout what I’ve listened to but still, they just keep staying fresh and pleasant

In January my dad and I followed the Caps on part of their western road trip, and we listened to that album on the drive through the desert from Phoenix to Vegas, which coincidentally took use right through the exact area that the "story" of that album is set. Pretty much the perfect way to listen to it!

I basically just crashed into that Lava, Magma, Death, Other Stuff I Can't Remember album blind and it's way more laid back than what I'm finding now but I kind of don't mind them ramping up,, and didn't realize at all that they were just pumping music out. This might be my new thing for the time being.

Something to be said for a group that when you want something different, you just pick a different album and it's completely refreshed.

Hey thanks for the reply that clarifies a couple of things. That last scene where Joel is talky talky and Ellie is slightly behind him I kept getting the vibe she might stab him for some reason but now more of her uneasiness trying to process her gut versus her head what may or may not have happened. That said seem like a good 8 to 9 versus 1 so the likely hood Joel getting her out of their would seem pretty unlikely.

Was wondering what the hell rifle Joel was using during that hospital scene (looked like a ruger but the mag looked like a rifle round). The glory of the internets: Ruger Mini-14 GB-F 5.56 nato.

Yep! Well, I guess homage is the more correct word.

A collaboration with Broderick Smith (The Dingoes), Eyes Like The Sky has been created as a "spaghetti Western audio book"! Stu Mackenzie of the band came up with the concept and pitched it to Smith. Agreeing to the project right away, both parties started recording soon after, as they wrote their parts simultaneously.

Smith narrates the entire 27 minute record, with KGATLW working as it's soundtrack. The marriage between Broderick's seriously deep voice and KGATLW's instrumentation completely works.

Stu explained, "I love Western films. I love bad guys and I love Red Dead Redemption. Oh and I love evil guitars."

That album you posted makes me want to re-watch Cowboy Bebop.

Man, this sucks. I could listen to this guy read the fine print on insurance policies. He also voiced Sylens in the Horizon PlayStation series and I’m wondering what they do with his character now. RIP.

Nooooooooooooooo……..one of my favorites. RIP…

This is a little dated….but oh my he has been in some great stuff playing great roles….

I actually yelled out "No!" when I saw this. Having watch full series for The Wire, Fringe, and Bosch just terrible.

I saw “Lance Reddick” trending on Twitter and I knew before I even read the story.

This sucks.
