For more recent Bakshi-inspired animation, check out the video for the song Volt Thrower by Conan. (heavy metal alert!) You'd think more moviemakers would have used his techniques.

Fire and Ice is a classic.

I recall reading something early in the covid shutdown was the demand for anime was so high that there was not enough outfits to do it all. Some of the newer anime on netflix that uses a mix of computer with anime style is not too bad.

The Old Man on Hulu is pretty damn good almost finished.

I watched Arcane and am watching Vinland Saga on Netflix, both are great. The Rottweilers from The Old Man deserve Golden Globe nominations.

Me after watching the first trailer for any Chris Nolan movie

Yeah I really liked the anime style for arcane. the DotA one was decent also.

Those rottweilers were cool they seemed bigger than normal but maybe that is normal.

Ahh the Oppenhiemer trailer...keeping 70mm alive I see you Nolan.

With the 2nd Avatar moving coming up wondering if they will finally release a 4k version of the first film.

I generally do not like any CBS show but man Evil is underrated.

It’s uncommon because it’s super labor intensive. You essentially have to rotoscope out each and every frame to do it properly. There are some AI-assisted tools to help these days (as well as green/blue screens), but it’s still more of a pain than other technologies they use these days.

Wow the new Black Panther trailer is sick
It is cool love the Namor look always thought he was a kind of cool sometimes good sometimes bad guy in the comics. I assume the new BP is a woman.

If you want to watching something glorious on 4k DV the avatar 2 teaser trailer is mind blowingly good.

Joel Haver has a good video on how he does his animated videos in the rotoscoped style:

I’m thinking about starting better call Saul, anyone seen it or recommend it?
I enjoyed the first couple seasons, but haven't had the motivation to continue. I found it kinda annoying when they started cramming more and more Breaking Bad characters and cameos into the story. I hate when shows do that.

Had low expectations going into watching Ms. Marvel based on the trailer. Actually turned out to be one of my favorite Marvel shows they’ve done so far.
I enjoyed Loki more, but Ms Marvel was really good. It's definite a coming-of-age story aimed at a younger audience, but its really charming and full-of-character at the same time.

The Bear (2022) on Hulu is amazing. Would strongly recommend. Harsh and realistic look at the life of a kitchen

Yeah imagine putting a bunch of characters from a show into its prequel. Go figure.

Paper Girls on Amazon is pretty decent. Almost finished.
Finally finished was pretty good. I can see why some lazy comparisons to Stranger Things as the four characters are 12 years old to start out in 1988. Not sure why some Amazon original content gets the 4k treatment and some does not.

Oh and non-4k/UHD streams that have dolby vision can sod off.
