Salary Cap: CAP set to explode over next 3 seasons to 113M in 27/28

We now keep Seth Jones until Levshunov or Rinzel can take his spot. No need to trade him he can be easily sent to a team needing to hit the floor or in a rebuild in 2027.

what you could now so is make a hockey trade IE trade him for a NHL player that is sub 25, something like dylan cozens. the good thing is you would not have to retain.

While true, if you can get out of his deal really at any point without retention, I think you have to do it. I just don't think he's going to be a capable third pairing guy when his physical tools start to fade, and he doesn't have the hockey IQ to make up for when they fade. His downfall is going to be BAD and I'd imagine when it happens it's going to be fast.

He has a NMC clause so its not that easy. Why would he agree to go to another bottom feeding team right when the team he's been on is on the upswing?

this. but, sadly, I think avoiding retention is a pipe dream

If you can retain 2M or less and get a decent return now for it, I think I could stomach that. Anything above 2M retained for more than 3 years would make me want to barf.

So looking forward and to position us for CB98's historical long term contract what about?:

Right after his ELC ends we extend on a bridge contract of 3/30M with a 10M AAV.

Based on what exactly?
Few different things, but the biggest being tariffs. Prices for a lot of items are going to get jacked up, especially consumer electronics (phones, computers, game systems, etc).

Things cost more, people can't afford to spend as much, recession starts.

Now means now. I don't understand what you mean by retention for more than three years if it's obvious.

My first post could have been worded better.

Either way, I agree with you that his value isn't nearly as low as Hawks and other fans think.

But I also think him being deal this season is an absolute pipe dream, and I'm not particularly optimistic he would even be dealt next season either.

I think if he gets dealt it'll be in the offseason.
