Pretty much exactly as predicted by EW. One of the most reasonable contracts given out by this management group to date—has a good chance to outperform it if he finds a good linemate fit.

So basically about what most people expected plus the 10-15% Benning tax.

I dunno if there was even a Benning tax on this one. EW had him at 4 x 4.68, so tack on another year (UFA year) and you get 4.95 pretty easily I would think.

What do thay have Petey/Hughes/Dickinson at by my count if we want to roster a full 22 players we need all theee to com in for a combined 16 million.

This is a good contract. There is no Benning tax here. We're buying one UFA year and he is a legit top 6 winger. I would much rather have Garland than Toffoli

I really like the deal. Signing 25 year olds with upside is exactly what we should be doing. Signing old players like Beagle, Myers, Erikssonand Sutter to long term deals is what gets you in cap hell.

This ends up being an awesome deal similar to Miller's contract. He will be very close to producing 70 points a year and may end up being a PPG in one his prime years.

What a turnaround for Canucks cap structure: Eriksson, Beagle, Roussel, Holtby all out.

Those guys amounted to $0 on the cap next year and we added the following cap hits (all are untradeable or would have to pay negative assets) to our structure for 22-23 the past few months:

Virtanen $500k
Holtby $1.9MM
OEL $7.25MM
Pearson $3.25MM

$12.9MM in new problems just as we saw the light of getting out of that amount, baby.
And, we are down a multitude of draft picks too. Woohoo!!

to me he scouts as a middle 6 forward so he is a middle-6 forward until he proves that production is real on our team.
Middle six forward is jargon. He’s playing top 2 lines and offensive situations here. The 70% offensive zone usage he’s had to date suggests it might be stupid to not continue that.

Feels good to have a chart that doesn't look like the 1929 stock market for one of our new acquisitions.
