there was a recent thread about this and it seems like a huge majority thinks he's a number 4 dman at best, with the rest thinking he's a bottom pairing. I am hoping he ends up like a Bieksa where his better years came after his early 30's.) Some Disgruntled Jets fans.
oh brother, it's not gonna be possibly to buy it out is itbe very interested to see if there's any signing bonus money, frankly they doesn't seem any justification for it...
Our depth down the middle is 2 great players an unknown in Gaudette, Sutter who is not worth his contract and Beagle a mediocre 33 year old 4th liner signed for 3 more years.Time will tell I guess.
All I know is that the Canucks finished with 81 points last season which was significantly higher than in recent previous years.
-Our depth down the middle has now been secured both short term and long term thanks to Pettersson and Bo Horvat.
-We seem to be set in net both short term and long term.
-We are now surprisingly deep on left wing (short term and long term).
-Our RW is almost completely set both short term and long term (still need a short term 2nd line RW’er......maybe someone like Pomminville?).
Our defense is still a massive work in progress however. Outside of Hughes, there are a lot of questions about the future here. Our left side is further along than our right, but we still need a lot of work here. Our LD would have been set both short term and long term had we signed Gardiner, but Benning had a different vision I guess.
He's tall, like Chara.Should be used like Marek Malik as a #5-6...I expect Benning to push this guy on the #1 pairng.
He's tall, like Chara.
It's okay, I hear Nicklas Lidstrom may be healed and finally ready to possibly play his first NHL game.Soon we'll have two charas when tryamkin comes back.
Shame we had to lose our bergeron in granlund tho.
You’re not going to get any legit top 4 D for that price via free agency (4 to 5 million). Maybe a #5 (or somebody that play the 2nd pairing if carried by the #3D). My opinion of course, the Tyler Myers I watched in Buffalo and at times in Winnipeg looked like a top 4 dman to me.
Probably not 6 million, I think he's worth somewhere between 4-5 million. The biggest question would be how he fits on our team.
This can be either really bad or ok.
happy canada day
It’ll be fun to watch all the people saying this contract ‘isn’t that bad’ change their opinion when watching him get turnstiled on the rush like this on a nightly basis.
Myers isn’t that great but he’ll have our hardest shot from the backend right away. I think the term and Aav aren’t as bad as they could be but they’re not great either. It’s honestly a good signing when viewed through the lens of free agency but in any other context it’s a yikes.
yikes.
