Quality of competition number stands out to me. Canucks probably view him as someone they can put out in a shutdown role. Is he? TBD.

Actually one of those guys I wanted as a "low key" signing. Dislike the term. AAV probably could have been lower. At least it is not franchise crippling I guess. LOL

I won't hide from this, Always liked the player, Maybe 500k and 1 year too much, But he is a good player.
Still our right side still needs a lot of work.

Maybe Poolman found an ancient burried bag of sensu beans in his backyard and he plans on eating one in the third period of each game this upcoming season...he then used this DBZ bag of beans to leverage a better contract with Benning. Benning is a hardcore DBZ fan.

Overpaid and term too long! I was expecting 2x2 or something.

Poolman had a rough year but was trending well prior to that.

Benning is really rolling the dice on reclamation projects.

I suppose that is not a bad strategy but a 4 year commitment at this point seems kind of ridiculous.

That said, if he an play a regular shift on the last pairing and can move up at times then he'll earn the salary. Still, another premium paid.

I don’t understand the term. Make it make sense.

Even the AAV I will live with I guess in the hopes that he fits better than we think but 4 years?

So, with Hamonic and Poolman, no Schenn then?
2.5m for a bottom pairing D sounds like an overpayment. I liked 800k for Schenn a lot better.

Without knowing the contract details, I have less problem with this signing than some other posters. Probably one year too long on the term and probably $500,000 - $700,000 too high.

But he's still only 28 and I would imagine the deal comes with no trade protection. So as a right-shot, depth d-man he'll always be in demand. So he might finish his four year contract in Vancouver, but could also be a trade chip down the road.
