We now have two #1 D's on the team.
Hronek and DPetey.
Hronek and DPetey.
Flip side is Pettersson - Myers are also holding their head above water in tough minutes, so Hughes - Hronek is a luxury you can live with for the time being. Can always mix and match those pairings if those two fall off.I dont want to see him with Hughes on the same pairing again barring the man-advantage.
Having him is like having another 1st pairing d.
I want Hronek to play with Pettersson as much as possible.Flip side is Pettersson - Myers are also holding their head above water in tough minutes, so Hughes - Hronek is a luxury you can live with for the time being. Can always mix and match those pairings if those two fall off.
they compliment each other well.We now have two #1 D's on the team.

All of a sudden our defense is really really good. With Hughes back we can rock this:Flip side is Pettersson - Myers are also holding their head above water in tough minutes, so Hughes - Hronek is a luxury you can live with for the time being. Not to mention they selected Zadina instead of Quinn HughesEvery once in a while I am reminded that Detroit handed us one of the best right handed defencemen in the league in the middle of his prime for no discernible reason, and it brings a smile to my face
Then you see Yzerman paid SJ to take Walman. I hope Allvin calls him all the time to chat so he’ll gift is more guys.Every once in a while I am reminded that Detroit handed us one of the best right handed defencemen in the league in the middle of his prime for no discernible reason, and it brings a smile to my face
So the trade with Detroit ends up being the Islanders first rounder (Axel Sandin-Pellika) at 18th overall in 2023 for Hronek.Nice! So did we officially win the trade??
Horvat's contract is so not worth it. I knew he was never going to be a PPG player again after his one hit wonder that got him paid by another sucker.

Yes, you could say at this stage, that the Canucks won this trade. Hronek's contract, assuming he stays healthy, is an absolute 'bargain' for a right-shot defender who can reliably put up 40-50 points a season.

Following up on this, he’s now at 51% in both since the Miller trade and only slightly behind full season. Given the state of the forward group and the fact he is getting low 40% o-zone starts, I’d say he’s more than proving his worth.Since Miller was traded, Hronek is running a score adjusted CF%/xGF% of 54/53% when away from Hughes. He’s at 57/56% with Hughes full season, so he’s definitely showing his worth of late.
big overpayment for what he offers. guess hughes will have his partner for the next 8 years. now that means Z is gone.
Since making that deal, Det has still just missed the PO by a few points these past 2 seasons. Getting closer, but they don't have the gamechangers to be a force. Still waiting on either Cossa/Augustine to develop to be their G.So the trade with Detroit ends up being the Islanders first rounder (Axel Sandin-Pellika) at 18th overall in 2023 for Hronek.

Good call Markus, not even a year later and this is looking like one of the biggest steals in the league. And we have him on this contract for 7 more yearsf*** yes! Literally cheered out loud when I wrote this.
With the cap going up this isn't just fair, this will be pointed to as an amazing deal within just a couple of years.
Whooo!

Also the age at when he signed. 2016 draft pick (late bday) signing for 8 years in 2024. 8 years post draft puts him at 26 going on 27 in 2024. So, would end at 34 turning 35. Marcus is 29 this year and got 6 years til 35. So, not inking these guys to 37/38 years of age.Hronek contract will age well.
Hughes/Hronek/Marcus Pete/EDP is a stellar top 4.
Put Myers in the bottom pairing and we should be good next season.
