Without a trade for a top 4 D, we really should try Hornek on his own pair. We can't have Soucy-Myers as the 2nd pair. They are just awful right now.

I don't think Hronek is a stud just because he finally scored a goal yesterday. He is still underproducing this season. That said he does have 3 pts in his last 4 games, so hopefully he's starting to enter a hot streak, which seems like his memo, a streaky player who is still serviceable when cold.

Me neither. I was talking more about his defensive play. He's so good at getting into passing lanes and breaking up plays. I wish he'd start using his cannon of a slapper more often, but he's been moving the puck very well and he's arguably been our best dman in our own end.

I think he defer to Hughes way too much in the offensive zone, which you can't blame him because Hughes is just so good. But it does take away Hronek's ability to utilize one of his best attributes, which is his shot. If they can somehow allow Hughes to control the play but let Hronek take the shot, that would push their effectiveness to a whole new level. Not sure if possible but it might be interesting for them to switch sides once the play is set up in the offensive zone.

Last year they switched sides quite a bit while controlling the puck in the offensive zone.

This year it seems like Hronek just stands there while Hughes skates around himself and eventually tries to shoot.

I keep repeating the same thing in post-game threads: hard to criticize Hughes for how good he's been but I wish he'd use Hronek more, or at least they work together more.

We saw how Edmonton contained Hughes yesterday and in the playoffs. Not every team is going to let him just dance around.

Hronek is turning into a heck of penalty killer. With Fobort having not played in a while and Soucy struggling he is on the first ok unit playing his off side and killing it. He has some of the best pk numbers on the team. For guy that has played on the pk but for the most part on the second unit.

Hronek has been an absolute workhorse and had no trouble stepping up to fill the gap left by Hughes' ejection. Totally agree that we should see him get the puck more to unleash his shot, we'd be so much more dangerous if players defending Hughes also have to worry about Hronek.

Canucks have been devastated by injuries. Ironically it seems to be happening to all of their star players. Demko, Pettersson, Boeser, Hronek and Miller?!. This past 6 months has been brutal to this team. Now it sounds like Hronek will be out for quite awhile. Brutal luck. Hopefully Hronek feels better sooner than expected, this is a huge loss to the defense that is already crap.

Hope he heals up quickly and fully. He's been playing by far the best hockey of his career, earning every penny of his new deal. Absolute f***in stud in both ends of the rink, albeit a bit reluctant to shoot.

Hopefully we can tread water in his (and the others') absence.

2/3 years missing significant time because of his shoulder is a concern. Possibly 3 years in a row since I don't think we actually know whether it was an elbow/wrist/shoulder last year.
