4 of those guys will probably not be moved.
Unless they get absolute Hauls.
Also the Rangers have injuries no? will they still trade Trochiek?
fair enough. i have no idea what the rangers plans are, and the rest are all going to fetch a quantity over quality return if they move.

i also take these summer leaks with two grains of salt. the barzal story seems more likely to be a motivational tool. if barzal was available from another team the isles would be after him.

GMs love to operate around deadlines and specific dates. Cup is won and now we’ll start to hear a bunch of rumours up to the draft, but I’m expecting very little movement until the actual draft day.

There’s a good chance ownership doesn’t sign off on that, even if we got solid replacements.
only if it wasn't sold hard enough.

That situation was like a massive cancerous tumor....and the type that spreads. It should have been obvious to them then that it would play out as it did IMO. Instead of immediately cutting it out, they waffled.

And now we're rebuilding.

Real package for me is taking his full contract and getting a 1st back still.
That combination would be what i am hoping for minimum.
He is worth a 1st + prospect anytime no matter what his point totals are, as you said the market is zero and he checks boxes GMS like to gamble on, especially with no other better options.

I'm not a fan more than most but keeping EP40 in a new environment with younger better players will only increase his value, unless he's completely swedish meatballs at 27, he will be worth three 1sts at the tdl and next summer etc.

Everyone on the team has good positive value now, maybe not huge or as high as previously, but can easily be moved if desired.

No, we can’t do the ownership meddling thing for the Rutherford era.

He gave them the choice to set the direction. They knew the problems and they thought it wouldn’t be an issue, and they got that wrong. They have to own that.

If 17 game Brad Richardson saw an issue with JT Miller in the room, then JR/Allvin really has no excuse. The fact that they doubled/tripled down on the JTM cancer is 100% their own fault.
Pretty obvious there were major issues. But I don't think the issues were limited to the dressing room. From many accounts Jim Rutherford was the main component to the toxic environment. Ruling with an iron fist, not empowering the people in their positions. Many people left under his watch and he constantly threw people under the bus. Having JR gone will help a lot.

The next move is getting rid of anyone who doesn't want to be around. DeBrusk even alluding to not wanting to be a part of a rebuild last year, he needs to go. Then sift through the rest and start to move anyone who doesn't want to be around.

I wonder if their would be interest in a Elias Pettersson for Cody Ceci trade. No idea what else would need to be done to make the trade work so I'm just thinking about a location where both players could be enticed by the location.

Ceci has 3 years left at a $4.5m cap hit and a 10-NTC. Which creates a decent offset for Pettersson's cap hit. With him not fitting in well and his role as a 3rd pairing RD should be simple to replace at half the cost.

The Kings also have the 17th, 46th, and 49th picks in the upcoming draft. Their prospect pool is pretty empty now. I can't imagine the demand for Pettersson is so high that he'd warrant a prospect beyond "interesting". So maybe you'd get a Jakub Dvorak.

For sure. Says a lot about his mindset that he still spoke so glowingly about JTM even after everything.

I would want the 17th and 46th pick in that deal.

Detroit also has a couple of options of players they could send back (subject to NTC's not being an issue).

Would be ideal to get at least a 1st round pick and I'm not sure it's worth doing this just to move the salary out considering we've got plenty of cap space.

You hope teams like Pittsburgh, Detroit and LA get into the mix enough where you can take a contract back (each have options) and get a first round pick.

DET could be an option if Yzerman learned his lesson, which I don't think he did.

Larkin's departure will leave a center spot empty, so even if Yzerman wants to run the team like a dump truck, the pragmatic need to shore up their C and slow creeping panic to improve the team before other stars want out may push him to make this kind of trade.

Quinn, Larkin, and maybe Matthews too, I'm definitely starting to see a pattern here.

To continue my series of teams that maybe are interested in acquiring Elias Pettersson, let's look at the Red Wings. Really it is just the Kings and Red Wings that are interested in him.

For the Red Wings, J.T. Compher is the most obvious candidate. Two years left at a $5.1m cap hit and a 10-NTC. His numbers have declined significantly since signing with them (48p, 32p, and 28p) despite remaining healthy. He can masquerade as a centre but is really a winger.

Red Wings have less draft picks but more prospects. There's obviously Marco Kasper and Nate Danielson but they have other interesting prospects as well. Zeev Buium's brother is in their system as well.

Maybe I was way off proposing four shiny quarters for Ep40 for the last few years but ya'll are crazy trying to propose giving him away for two nickels today.

He still has immense value leaguewide, get out of here with this capdump and scraps bullshit.

- coming from his biggest hater

He does not have immense value.

Value yes but it’s pretty minimal unless the Nucks retain.

unkess it’s Anaheim or something, we’re either going to be retaining at least $3M or taking back a bad contract in any Petey trade.
