I can almost guarantee he’ll re-sign at 6x$8M. Probably gets a NMC for the first 4 years. Source:
Not hearing the Canucks and Brock Boeser are close on a new deal.
Could go 3 ways this week - sign, trade him or keep him. - Dhaliwal
Well then let's sign him? So just to clarify you were ok with Tanev and Toffoli walking to replace them with garbage contracts?
This is the kind of mentality management possesses and is the reason we've had a decade of darkness. Just pissing away value time and time again.
I woke up today and I thought to myself, you know what?
Maybe this losing streak before the deadline is the best case scenario.
If we went 50/50, management might still trade a 1st for help, but in this case, they are getting kind of forced to trade guys like brock.
Agreed here. Only thing I'll say is if they trade Boeser for draft capital or prospects, I'm almost guaranteeing they're flipping those to address depth at center or the lack of foot speed in the lineup.I don't really want to sign him, either.
I just don't really care if he walks, and don't really care if we get assets back.
If he walks, we're 'trading' him for the player/players we sign with that cap space. This isn't 1992.
Making the playoffs matters, and despite a season where *everything* has gone wrong we're still in a good position to make the playoffs. And I want to go into the playoffs with the best roster possible. It's the whole f***ing point of sports and following sports.
Agree to disagree. I don't want playoffs I want a cup. This team isn't winning a cup this year and it definitely won't in the future if we lose value for Boeser.I don't really want to sign him, either.

The messaging to the team if you trade Boeser for futures when they're sitting in a playoff spot is disastrous. It will move a Quinn Hughes about 3 steps closer to the door.
I hate this sort of loser mentality. People would have been selling Diduck and Craven on the eve of the 1994 playoffs.
There is a reason why basically no team ever in any sport sells when they're sitting in a playoff spot, and it isn't 'stupidity'.
Every time anything like this comes up, the loser mentality of fans and the total ignorance of how sports works just boggles my mind.
Absolutely not.The messaging to the team if you trade Boeser for futures when they're sitting in a playoff spot is disastrous. It will move a Quinn Hughes about 3 steps closer to the door.

Right now, if you sell off Boeser, Suter and everyone else, you're not only telling Hughes the team is just dead for this season and possibly next year too.
The whole "build for the Sedins" was little more than a marketing ploy because the average fan tends to believe it.
This. Getting assets and cap space right now so you can be aggressive at the draft is more important than feelings right now.
The best management teams remove emotion from the equation. All that matters is the Cup.
Being a fan of this team is depressing. There’s fact there’s even a question that Boeser could stay or go sums this franchise up.
One of the worst prospect pools in the league, not much coming. Injured stars. Stars feuding.
And we’re talking about self rentals. So embarrassing. If they keep Boeser after the deadline and he walks for nothing I’m taking a break from this team.
Agreed - unfortunately.I'm ready to vomit when the Boeser 6x$8M contract is announced.
I wouldn't trade Suter, I think he's worth more to the team than what he'll bring on the market. And trading Boeser doesn't at all mean you're tanking next season, too... not even close.
No it wasn't, that was literally the plan. Why do you think they kept signing older UFA's and never weaponized their cap space? Yeah they tried to and did get younger but they never intended to not compete, that just happened by accident.
I will be absolutely f***ing choked if we trade Boeser for magic beans right now. It would be an insane decision for where the team is at.
Again, this sort of mentality absolutely blows my mind.
If we somehow turn Boeser into Lafreniere or something, fair enough. But this team should not (and will not) be trading core players for magic beans when we're sitting in a playoff spot. And it won't be a 'massive joke' when it doesn't happen.
Yes. Removing emotion and prioritizing a Cup is out to lunch. Hughes definitely doesn’t want that. lolYeah. Hughes surely will think like this next contract. This take is completely out to lunch.
dramatic
how about flippable magic beans?
i think you are safe. aquaman is not going to let a team this close to the playoffs go backwards. he will say "replace him now or in free agency".
