Accept that likely nothing will be done today.

Rutherford/Alvin like to make trades early before the TDL based on past history. Nothing has been done means that there isn't anything out there. It's hard when you're in a position of weakness.

This is a thing too that I think is getting underplayed. There's a very realistic scenario teams just aren't making good offers on Boeser. So Allvin/Rutherford decided it's better to keep re-signing him on the table that settle on a mid package yet again.

Yeah that's a brutal oversimplification. Hard to see where Stankoven goes but he's on an ELC for another year and then the team has 4 more years of team control after that. Necas' contract expires in a year.

That said, the optics are not very good for Carolina right now. Are they competing this year? Or not?
I think they made the best of a bad situation...they took their shot with Rantanen, it didn't work and they pivoted and came away with a good haul. I applaud the aggressiveness and willingness to change course.

Whether Hughes is healthy or not, given where prices are it's a very hard argument to make that the team is better off holding onto Boeser and Pius vs selling them and using the assets to acquire reinforcements in the offseason.

Boeser should tell them to f*** off and wait to FA to sign elsewhere

They low balled him so he should not do them any favours.

I’m working from home and ordering some lemongrass chicken rice with an egg and spring rolls for lunch

We’ll have to see what they do before the deadline but Stankoven seems like the ideal piece to have available to dangle when basically no team is looking for futures for anyone who isn’t a rental.

Meh...I don't think Necas is going to be a consistent 90 point player in Carolina and I don't think a 22 year old Stankoven will top out at 40 points.

Stankoven just turned 22 years old, was considered a borderline top-10 drafted prospect, and is in his rookie season - this is a very dumb take.

Seriously?

Carolina is a contender late in their window and made themselves dramatically worse right now.

Obviously Stankoven will get better. That doesn’t help them this season.

If you accept doing nothing at this TDL, then you can’t bitch and complain when the team sucks going forward.

The acceptance of mediocrity is crazy.

The team does suck. What you said doesn't even make sense. The reality is, something probably won't be done. It doesn't mean the team doesn't suck

So many armchair GMs who refuse to acknowledge the reality that players are human beings who care about winning and that playoff revenue matters if you want to keep being a cap team.

Just a bunch of whining of how we possibly could do nothing and refusing to acknowledge the above realities.

People have played EA sports games more than they’ve worked for real companies with real-life people.

It’s just a total fundamental failure to understand how sports works.

People set up an expectation for something that was never going to happen and are now having a tantrum when it predictably isn’t happening.

necas, drury, a late 2nd and 4th for stankoven, two late 1sts, and two late 3rds.

that's bad but not a disaster for the canes. they wanted out from necas and they value cap space and team control contracts highly.
