Apparently it isn’t about money or term? Wonder if coaching staff didn’t see him as a puzzle guy and couldn’t promise the ice time. They praised Myers highly.
Weird, maybe it was an ice time /fit thing, Myers at three mil is an asset and the organization seems to love him in all situations.

Tampa Bay GM Julien BriseBois electrified the draft Saturday morning by trading Mikhail Sergachev to Utah and Tanner Jeannot to Los Angeles — with the Lightning poised to do big business as free-agency approaches.

BriseBois indicated Friday that franchise cornerstones Steven Stamkos and Victor Hedman were trending in different directions. Stamkos likely headed to free agency (with agent Don Meehan confirming that being the likely scenario) and Hedman to a contract extension on the first day he is eligible, July 1.

Tampa’s believed priority target is Jake Guentzel, coming off a 30-goal season in Pittsburgh and Carolina.

What happened between the Hurricanes and Guentzel is still being determined. According to multiple sources, Guetzel’s ask was eight years with an $8M AAV. It was made some time ago, with the two sides grinding away in negotiations since that time — perfectly normal.

On Thursday, the Hurricanes agreed to meet those terms and were prepared to discuss structure. Several teams said they heard the winger was staying in Carolina. But, with July 1 approaching, those same sources indicated Guentzel decided that, the longer it took, the more he thought about testing free-agency as, is his right.

“It looks like the market changed from when they started negotiating and now,” another GM said.

It’s possible Guentzel’s rights are traded prior to Monday. There are teams who want to talk to him, to gauge his interest.

As for Stamkos, it is hard to say immediately what this means. As the draft continued, it became obvious there is no shortage of teams that would love to talk to him if he gets to free agency. We’ll see what develops.

Just like the TDL, mgmt going to put all their eggs into the Guentzel basket that won’t materialize.

His return surprises me because it seems like an overpayment at this stage.
Not any more with the cap going up.

We, fans, are just so used to the flat cap maintaining lower salaries, with cap inflation comes salary inflation.

5.5 million now will be like 3.5 in 3/4 years. Miller's 8 will be like 5.75-6 in impact of the over all cap space.

Really hoping for a blockbuster trade now.
Getting that Benning feeling of taking a step back.
This year was a surprise but battling for a WC spot will seem like a big fail.

Can you imagine big Z signing with Edmonton.

The RHD crap is just that, this team had the 5th best defence as they were and did pretty outstanding in the playoffs considering Hughes and Hronek did score and they played with the #3 goalie.

Thinking of Silovs, I think he gets an offer sheet, just enough that they can't match.

Buchnevich is as appealing now as he was at the TDL, wish his contract was just a tad longer however.
Same, he's been high on my list all season. I don't know what we'd have to pay to get him but I hope he's high on management's list so that they can prepare for that possibility.
I don't think Guentzel is all that special honestly. :/

I like Stephenson more.
What do you like about Stephenson? Definitely some conflicting opinions on him.

Maybe he just likes Tampa Bay better than Raleigh.

Holy Christ no on Cole

He almost gifted the Oilers a Stanley Cup.

Milstein should just f off instead we don't care nearly enough about him or his clients.

f***ing guy is such a drama queen.

Tampa offers 9 and gets him easy.

East Coast. No state tax. Florida.

If Tampa wants him they will get him.

If it's even remotely close per year, he's going to Tampa Bay. Canucks would need to go up to $10.5 million per to make it work.

McGroarty with ehlers and sign toffoli cheap and the top nine is fixed.

Kadri retained and andersson and we probably win the cup, or get record playoff game suspensions either way would be exciting.

I'll settle for Cirelli, or Laine, even Jeff skinner...

Canucks circling back on Ian Cole. Cole was good in the regular season and 1st round of the playoffs, he’s solid physically and dished out some nice hits over the season. Teams around the league will remember his unfortunate series against the Oilers lol he won’t get much on the open market, Canucks might be able to resign him for around 1.5-2M for another season.
