Allvin has basically spent his cap space immediately at every opportunity so I would doubt he holds it for long. Plus being in LTIR, there's no point.
Can they still use LTIR if under the cap now without needing it?
It's looking like Bear and then flexibility for TDL to take on a bigger contract with less salary sent the other way.
Bear is not worth it, they will need the 2.5 million for a better, bigger defenceman. Better to make trades before the TDL, now, before more teams decide they are in or out.
And this was Rutherford's ethos with the Penguins. Which makes sense during the season and with LTIR.
Now, at this point in the season no team is really out of contention so more might be willing to roll the dice.

Both Boeser and Garland are easily replaceable with existing players.

Even adding sweeteners to get out of Benning's poison pill contracts except for OEL's (which is still totally baffling) in the form of picks could be building the future.

For all bad takes you've had this might take the cake.

No thanks. We need to save our cap space to fix more of our glaring needs, and that’s putting aside the mystery of exactly what the heck he did.
Apparently in Perry's statement, it had to do with drinking, which based on Davidson's demeanor there was something else too.
Wake up in the morning and???????

Still the bigger story should be that Chicago letting the rumours run wild in main stream media.

As far a signing Perry for playoffs, yep. No problem. League minimum, no sweat. That kind of experience can't be bought, then again it can be.

A drinking issue if not chronic is easy enough to monitor, hire a companion to help him for a few months. I'll do it!!!!!

About the recent trade and past trade rumors about Garland, i want to say two things that i think people dont notice.

Garland provides something that is not picked up on the standard stat line. He hasnt really been very lucky with bounces but he is generating strong 5 on 5 forward play that really swings the momentum.
He has a 57.8% 5ON5 Corsi rating this season and 5on5 C Relative is +10.1!!! This is with more than 50% of his O/D zone starts being in his OWN zone (50.6 Def zone vs 49.4 Ozone).

to be honest, i would not trade him for cap space unless you need that to resign Hronek and or Petey.
for comparison, Beauvillier at 5on5 corsi is 48.4% and corsi relative is -1.7.

Beauvillier has one more point than Garland but Garland is 2x more valuable to this team.

side note: I would love to see a third line of
Mikheyev Suter Garland - but we don't have enough depth to pull Mik off the 1RWposition.

Really? Last year in the same number of games
Kuz - 11 goals
Horvat - 17 goals
Boeser - 6 goals
This year
Boeser - 17 goals - 8 PP goals
Kuzmenko - 3 goals

Wasn't it a worry about Horvat's missing 30 goals? This was while Garland and Boeser's agents were BOTH trying to dig up trade partners.

Horvat's goals are now Boeser's goals as is the PP position.

Isn't it still a big issue about the defence? Still after 7 years?

The team has had a 100 point player, 99 point player and Hughes with Demko for 4/5 years. All those points didn't get the team into the playoffs.
The one constant has been the state of the defence.

A solid defence could reduce goals against by one. That's 82 goals over a season and doesn't rely on one single player to perform.

The other biggest issue has been cap space. How many years has it been, "no space no trades" while other teams did make big trades.

Boeser is just a player, one single player. He isn't doing end to end rushes, he isn't deking out players to get around them, he isn't out skating them, he isn't a physical deterrent. He isn't even shooting as well as he was. Horvat was paid 5 mil, Kuzmenko was paid league entry level.

Boeser has never done anything like this before in 8 seasons. A one off.

I don't hate any player but I do like usable cap space more and a team concept. I have never gone to games just to watch one single player, correction, I did to see Bure but not all the time and when he was traded the writing was already on the wall with his agent looking for a trade partner with Nonis.

Cap space will be needed for Demko and Hughes in two more years, not withstanding OEL's buyout increasing to over 4 million a year. Replacing or resigning Kuzmenko, Podkolzin, Hoglander and any other players that might be traded for.

Tocchett mentioned this morning that Wolanin is healthy again and might get a look soon. With Souucy out, I'd like to see this tried out:
Hughes/Hronek
Cole/Myers
Wolanin/Friedman

Perhaps Wolanin plays both Abby games this weekend and then gets a shot on Tuesday when the big club is at home vs New Jersey.

That's kind of what Friedman suspects.
Cool

I do believe that they are going to jump on someone from a team that's going to get ahead of making the decision early whether or not to sell stuff and retool

I would say start looking at young guys that are actually pushing themselves into lineups and in theory could be ready later this season or next year and then see who is left from there. Odd man out guys

Has to be Columbus, Washington, Minnesota, Ottawa, Buffalo.

Hope it is huge! Hanafin would be nice but Zadorov better;)

I think the statement that we arent looking to move our 1st is all positioning. Its the asset that makes the most sense to move out right now.

I also wonder if theyre making Kuzmenko available (which they shouldnt). He seems to be really butting heads with Tocchet, and now his agent is making noise.

I really don't care how you justify your position. There is no way you are going to convince any reasonable person that you can easily replace the current goal scoring leader in the NHL.

Would Washington actually sell? They seem to be pretty high in the standing with games in hand on most teams. Seems like an odd team to be selling.

Just watch. Be prepared to be disappointed to lose your player.

Need goal scoring and possesion stats, that would be Garland.

Columbus Boeser and 5th with AHL C.- Peeke, Voronkov and 5th
