What's wrong with wins? I'll use any career metric to show Miller is better than 85% Lack!
You want to use team stats as a strength? then of course championships come into play. and he hasn't won any of them. in fact he's let it ridiculously soft clinching goals.

The crosby goal and go youtube Alfredsson's goal in the ECF to send the Sens to the finals.

Lots of Vezina trophies went to goalies with the most wins. I won't disagree with the experts.

I'm not a huge miller fan, so you're ridiculous taunting of his accomplishments truly rings hollow. What is funny is you got this way because Lack is truly awful.

What's funny is that you got this way because Lack outperformed your star Miller when they were on the same team and their stats were directly comparable.

Not to mention Miller folding in game 6 with a 3-0 lead. Lol.

So hang onto those "accomplishments" because all he's ever done is fold when his team needed him the most.

Lack was hot for a year or two- happens to lots of goalies. Few goalies have the career numbers or achievements Miller does.

Lack is a poor backup at this point. In a backup you want reliability, and while sporting a .856 save percentage you just aren't an NHL goalie under any circumstance.

I wonder if Lack is good enough for the KHL or if he'll be off to some other European country to play.

Miller was hot for a year or year and a half.

a .915 career save % is average for a guy who supposedly had such an elite career.

what's hilarious to me is that lack put up a .912 and .921 save % in the 2 years he tandemed with Miller.

What were millers numbers in that same stretch? oh wait here they are: .911 and .903.

maybe he can back up Lack in the KHL

You dont get it, do you?

Nobody is saying Läck is elite or anything...yet he badly outplayed our $6m starter! Let that sink in. Cant imagine a team with lots of young guys always getting the "Miller stare" after the goalie lets in a bad goal...oh wait I can.

that's exactly the point. he's calling him a KHLer yet he had better numbers than miller on the same team. lol

When did career save % define a goaltender? Patrick Roy's career save % is .912. Ryan Miller spent his prime playing on mostly bad teams yet he consistently averaged a .916 save %. Ryan Miller had a hof worthy career, at least from a regular season perspective.

Save percentages have increased over the years from what they were when Roy was a young goalie..

Roy had a run of 5 seasons in which he led the NHL in save % in 1988 (.900), 1989, (.908), 1990 (.912), then was 2nd in 1991 (.906) and led the league for a 4th time in 5 seasons in 1992 with .914. That performance, ahead of his peers, was truly hof worthy.

Miller never led the NHL in save % and has only had one season to date in the top 7. That truly isn't hof worthy.

To compare them on the basis of raw save % is extremely misleading.

If you want to argue whether save % works on players on different teams in different circumstances doesn't work well, I could understand making that argument (it would be an interesting argument both ways) but it isn't a valid argument to say save % doesn't work as a comparison for goalies in the same seasons because it doesn't work in comparing goalies from different eras.

Exactly. Miller in his prime and at his best was amazing. His Vezina year and olympics recognition was much deserved. The Miller we have seen simply can't carry the Canucks the way he did when he was younger.

Never denied that, however the rest of his career he has been mediocre, I don't dislike Miller. But I dislike the signing at 6 mil. For 6 mil, he should be able to carry a team, or at least the starters load.

Badly out played him?

Lack got hot for a few games and ever since he has been garbage. He was garbage in the playoffs that year and he has been garbage in Carolina.

Not to mention Miller actually sticks up for his teammates unlike Lack

Miller Sticking up for Stecher:

Lack backing down when challenged:

I see Miller jumping in against a noted tough guy to stick up for a rookie. Miller has his teammates backs. I see Lack standing there and watching his captain being punched by the other teams goalie and doing NOTHING!!! Then he gets called out by Quick and still does nothing!!!

Miller jumps in against a noted tough guy and Lack pulls a coward move and watches his captain get punched by the other GOALIE. What a ***** move by Lack, total wuss

Who gives a **** if Lack had a better sv% for half a season. He folded in the playoffs when it counted, he sucks now and to top it off he doesn't have his teammates backs :shakehead

yup. Ryan Miller will be in the HOF. Eddie Lack might have another year left in his NHL career

So it's a good idea to pay a goalie 6M to protect a rookie from something that is started by our 2.5M 4th liner.

I think the better solution is to not have the 6M goalie enforcer and 2.5M 4th line sometimes tough guy.

Soft answer. Henrik is that you? Daniel? Eddie?

Are you actually promoting the idea that's it's more important to have a goaltender attacking people than stopping shots? Sees like a some people would rather have a team of worthless thugs than a hockey team.

Personally, I think winning games should be the idea, odd as that sounds.

Anyone who wanted a 35 year old $6M goalie with a .911 SV% over a 27 year old $1.15M goalie with a .921 SV% are...well...I don't even need to say it.

His career numbers show Lack had a hot streak. Big whoop. He could be the worst goalie in the NHL today.
