Third last place last season & tied for third last place this season....with Miller.

Could you imagine how demoralized our young players would be with Lack, a goalie that can't stop a beach ball? Yikes!

It was a good trade. Lack will likely be back in Sweden in two years, if not next season.

3rd last place - lots of moral victories with that.

(Canes are currently higher than the Canucks in the standings - as well as last season).

Jim Carey won a vezina. How do I explain goalies who get hot for a season or two? Not sure.

You know who else had one good season that lead to a Vezina?

I will give you a hint, his first name is Ryan, and his last name is a popular beer brand.

Some goalies do get hot for a short period of time. Good GM's just don't sign them for 6 mil when they are in there mid thirties...

What? You realize that Miller will likely be a top 20 goalie in career wins by the time his career is done...try harder please.

Do you know who else won a ton of games? Dan Cloutier, wins are a team stat... I think you need to try harder, I have been eating your arguments alive for two days without any effort.

Oh ffs. Even if Benning had kept Lack instead of signing Miller, he'd have found something equally moronic to do with the cap space. If not Miller it'd have been some other loser like...Phillips or someone else. Maybe he'd have thrown money at Kiprusoff or something.

I mean, c'mon. It's not like they'd have done something intelligent with cap space, is it.

People are still going on about Eddie "Twitter" Lack?

Lack is garbage, I said it at the time of the trade and I'll say it again, hes overrated and fans around here loved him more for his stupid taco tweets than for his crappy on ice play. He stunk in the playoffs but somehow tweeted his way out of it. Lack is a loser, what has he ever won? NOTHING. Hes a twitter loser

And yet he is the better option. Bringing up "winning anything" as a defense for Miller is interesting.

Stanley Cup? Gold medal?

Oh wait he let in Mcsofties

Do you know who else won a ton of games? Dan Cloutier, wins are a team stat...

Playoffs aside, Cloutier was a really good first shot goaltender in the regular season. Pucks would hit him squarely in the chest and the team was good enough to limit rebound opportunities. I wouldn't discount Cloutier's ability to win with the Canucks. There's such thing as "fit" too with goaltenders and Cloutier was a great fit with those Canuck teams in the regular season. His biggest problem was that he frequently got injured and it takes him a few games to get going and he sucked in the playoffs. But in the regular season, once he got going, there's really not much to complain about during his prime years here.

The experts still selected Miller goalie and MVP of the tournament. Only on an online internets forum would an Olympic silver metal be denigrated.

Exactly. Miller in his prime and at his best was amazing. His Vezina year and olympics recognition was much deserved. The Miller we have seen simply can't carry the Canucks the way he did when he was younger.

If Jim Benning wasn't Jim Benning GM Edition:
Trade Kesler to Anaheim for 10th Pick and 24th pick.
Doesn't trade Garrison
Doesn't acquire Vey
Doesn't trade Forsling
Doesn't trade Shinkaruk

essentially doesn't make any trade except the kesler one, which had a quote that the Ducks GM had both 1sts on the table for Kesler

Draft :
Nylander
Larkin
McCann (or Barbashev like many wanted)

No Vrbata or Miller signings.

Taking Tkachuk instead of Juolevi

our team would look like:

Sedin Sedin Hansen
Tkachuk Horvat Burrows
Rodin Larkin Nylander
Gaunce Richardson Kassian

Edler Tanev
Hutton Garrison
Tryamkin Stecher
Forsling

Markstrom
Lack

How much better would this team be this season? and especially to watch!!?!?!?!
