We're not going to trade premium players like Kesler and Edler at the height of their career, in the midst of their prime...for anything that makes this team better in the next year or two. That's utterly illogical. Why would teams ship out younger versions of players who are just as good, to acquire these guys? If they're moved...it's a deal for the future. You don't swap out two of the best players on a team for futures and abracadabra playoffs next year!!! That isn't how it works in the real world.
I completely agree with the idea of the bolded. I just think you're missing the fact that guys like Kesler and Edler are the same sort of personnel. Guys who, if we're looking to be a better team next year...as i said above, it is essentially impossible to improve this team for next season by moving those type of guys. You're not going to swap out one of the best 2-way centers in the league for picks/prospects/very young players and have that be an "improvement" for next year.
People have this weird idea in their heads that somehow this team is going to improve for the next couple of years by trading away our best players. And it's *********.
Who is under the impression that trading away our core players will make us better? Most people at this point are in favor of dealing away Kesler, Edler etc., but not to improve, to rebuild.
