We won't be getting a top 5 pick, but a 6-8 pick is still pretty solid

The real question to ask. Are we going to be able to pick a quality player that will be able to join the core of this team with our 37-39, 68-70th picks etc.

To whomever posted that Bieksa quote, he responded to Lack's comment that it was his own fault with, "if that's how he feels, sure... but I don't agree"

Obviously media enjoy cutting out portions..

It wasn't even in response to Lack's comment, it was in response to Kesler's comment saying that this game is indicative of how this season has gone.

I have too many infractions to do searches but I am ****ing positive that you were the guy calling us chicken littles back in November when we were saying this was an OK team at best that was being propped up by a soft schedule and OT points.

He was high on the team initially, citing possession numbers and hard play (visually) for his reasoning. However, after they had collapsed in January, possession numbers got thrown out the window and then the Doomseeking began. Then the calls were for a full rebuild.

Or at least, that's how I remember it.

Edit: It seems that crowd definitely has some material to draw from _now_.

Currently 10th. There's still a chance to make the playoffs.

High draft pick 6-8th vs playoffs against the best in the West?

I hope Aquilini bites the bullet and embraces the rebuild. It's nescessary for this team he'll sell more tickets when we have hope rather than keeping the same core and fizzling out into nothing. Aquilini is a very smart business man but he's a very proud guy. I think his issues as a person seem to be over now that his wife is out of the way. (He's very bad at keeping his life private)

32 year STH on team 1040 right now. Seems pretty sensible and positive. I feel bad for him.

Ryan Kesler left bench with 15 seconds left in the game - caller said that.

Can you imagine, with our current record vs. the Blues... we played them in the first round and beat them somehow?

I would be utterly shocked. But it'd be hilarious.

Kesler 'how do I get out of this chicken **** outfit'
Gillis 'were on the express elevator to hell, GOING DOWN'
Torts 'this cant be happening man, this cant be happening'
Gillis and Torts '17 DAYS? Hey man I don't want to rain on your parade but we aren't going to last 17 hours'

Gillis: "that little girl (Eakins in Edm) managed to survive (more losses) longer than that with no (NHL) training
Kesler: "why [didn't] you put her in charge"
Gillis: looking in Aquilini's direction "the corporation (sat in on the wrong interview) wanted a (mature) specimen"

You see, it could be even worse.

My recollection is him posting stuff like this ad nauseum, in response to posters concerned early on that we couldn't beat actual good teams. Now he's calling himself "Mr. Doom and Gloom" and acting like he was right all along.

Fun game to be at tonight. Even though it was a loss, it was incredibly entertaining to see the drama unfold.

This is not entirely Eddie's fault. He looked worn down mentally and was slow to react to where the puck went, but the defense was dreadful in front of him as well.

this core is not capable of a playoff upsets, only chokes.

The Blues would win in 4 straight ass kickings. Unless we can get half their team to fly from Sochi to St. Louis the day before the game.

So downgrade at 2nd line centre and on defense and voila, a playoff team? That sure sounds easy.

Just unload the teams 3rd best offensive forward and arguably the best offensive defenseman and this 29th ranked offense inmproves dramatically and gets back into the playoffs?

I need to hear more about this plan of yours...

Pretty much. This seems to be the mentality among many fans and it's just mind-numbingly stupid to me.

All the people calling for a tear-down rebuild because we lose a game like this in spectacular fashion...Tonight is what most nights look like for a team that trades away its best players for futures. So many don't seem to appreciate this. If you can't handle a couple months of this kind of thing under a horrific lame duck coach, how do you expect to keep your **** together through a couple years of it? :shakehead

It's not a "trade away Kesler and Edler and instant playoffs voila!" Those are moves that make our team worse, not better.

Never thought this was a great team. I said they were an excellent defensive team that struggled to score. I'm sure you remember me arguing that possession stats only go so far - and that you need skill and finish to do something with those chances created. I also seriously questioned whether this team had enough finish.

In short, your opinions about this team should change from November/December to what we've seen in the last couple months. It would be ridiculous not to with new information presented.

Trade away those players for nothing = make team worse.

Trade away those players for something = might make the team worse or better.

All depends on the return.

It's fine for opinions to change. You literally said "this team can compete with the best in the west," and now you're saying you "never though this was a great team."

It's fine to update your opinions but don't ******** about it.

His opinion changed after they collapsed. Something happened. That's just my impression of it.

You argued against possession/regression in the new year, not prior to, as far as I know.

I'm not saying you can't change your opinion. Just pointing out that you had.

Yeah, that's how I remember it. They were air-tight defensively but didn't have the PP or finish. In 2013, this team was outstanding defensively.

But things have changed in 2014 and those skilled players the team needed to add never came. Instead, the skill the team did have completely vanished into thin air.
