l realize that even if they all play a great game, the sample size is just too small, but just imagine how cheap our D would be if this is it for next year

That plus Robertson and Amirov up front, the Kessel retention coming off the books, and replacing Andersen with a 3 mil platoon starter would give us just under 20 mil to spend.

Finally we are using our depth to rest guys. Surprised Foligno is out but Muzzin and Rielly look like they need a break.

A day us Liljegren fans have been anticipating and hoping for a long time now. With Reilly on a maintenance day I wonder if Keefe has the balls to put Liljegren on 2nd unit PP. Redemption for the kid and I'm expecting him to blend in seamlessly with the rest of the team

Good luck. In uni days, back in the early 80's, I made a $100 (CDN) bet with a classmate who was from Montreal that the Jays would win the World Series before the Expos (what a dumb name, btw). Given that the Jays won not once, but twice, I figure the guy owes me $200.

Rob, if you're reading this: PAY UP.

That’s gotta be like $760 now with interest.

Definitely interested to see Lil get some game action tonight. I thought last year he really wasn't given a real opportunity to show much. Even when he played, he hardly saw the ice. Despite that, I thought he showed some good poise defensively, made some good outlets and even stood his ground physically. Another year down the road, even more very good AHL experience under his belt, and I think he has a lot to offer, but we'll see what kind of note he can start on this time around.

If memory serves Liljegren's NHL stint before coincided with a real tough stretch for our D as well with multiple top 4 D out.

lily is going to surprise some people. He can play. Not overly dynamic but I see him having a Stralman like impact on games. Been a long time coming.

Actually yeah Stralman is a pretty solid comparable I think. Defensively reliable, good first pass, can chip in offensively

Thats a little concerning, I wouldn't think they'd go with two new dmen at once unless they had too.

Sandin-Brodie
Dermott-Holl
Hutton-liljergen
?

Really surprised to see Keefe take both Rielly & Muzz out at the same time while Bogo is already out... good sign for down the stretch though, Keefe's resting guys. If Matthews needs anytime down the stretch to rest his wrist, I'd like to see them do it; that's a major player to rest though so I'd hope it'd be only him.

Pumped to see Liljegren finally, hopefully he's much better than his last stint; Sandin potentially with some big minutes too

TBH with you I would rather play Winnipeg then Montreal.

Fair enough. I couldn't disagree more strongly but admittedly that's partly because I've been waiting for over 40 years to get revenge on MTL.

No but it would take something extremely Leafy for it to happen

We are the best team in the division imo

Something leafy ... don't even think it!:rant:

We are the best team ... agreed.

This is random but I can see a day when both McDavid and Matthews play on the same team. They train together and seem close, and who knows what the cap will be then and what contracts will be off our books.

Expect a solid game from our black aces tonight.

Excited to see Liljegren in finally. also Hutton to see what he can bring. Sandin moves up with Brodie? Wonder what the lines will be.

Sandin. Brodie
Dermott Holl
Hutton. Liljegren

(Huttons old team too)

Obviously defense looks bad without our two best defenseman but still we should win if the offense shows up.

Lilijgren also gets a game to show how his progress as a player has been coming. Hopefully has a solid game

Our blue line looks very small, get this W for Hyman. Glad to see Lily finally getting a shot.
We lose two inches in height going from Muzzin/Rielly to Hutton/Lily.

If they're good I don't care how big they are. Bruins made the finals with 3 D that were under 5'10"

So I'm guessing the lines will be:

Galchenyuk - Matthews - Marner
Kerfoot - Tavares - Nylander
Mikheyev - Engvall - Simmonds
Thornton - Brooks - Spezza

Sandin - Brodie
Dermott - Holl
Hutton - Liljegren

D may look way different, maybe a Brodie-Holl pairing, Hutton-Holl, who knows...

This is like preseason now. The real hockey starts game 1 of the playoffs. Between now and then expect a ton of guys to be in and out of the lineup.
